Ricecake and Matt Fletch come from same universe, but different planets
Both characters come from a post-apocalypse era following a great war, with Matt from Earth itself whilst Ricecake was born on Mars. While it is widely believed on the Red Planet that the Earth is now uninhabitable due to lack of communication, it's plausible there might be some undetected survivors surviving on or under the surface.
