The comic is an alternate-universe version of the Yugoslavian War
- Based on the fact that there's a Serbo-Croatian translation of the comic. The Reds are Croats, the Blues are Serbs, and the Yellows are Albanians (drastic language differences and all).
The comic is actually a multi-player Real Time Strategy computer game.
- This is why the factions never completely run out of men and weapons, as more spawn all the time. The Greens had a bad or AFK player which is why they acted so oddly then disappeared, The Yellows have a skilled player who is further down the tech tree. True to RTS gameplay conventions troops gain promotions by killing enemies, which is explicitly stated to happen in the comic. The troops irrational motivation to fight comes from their actions being scripted by the game.
