Dr. Z has been shown at some points to be able to modify cards. Either he, or some other force from his time, must have traveled back in time (the Alpha Gang is shown to have a Time Machine after all) to capture dinosaurs in order to turn them into Mons for entertainment in the future.Rex Owen is an alternate universe Emil Castagnier

The Cryolophosaurus from the anime was originally the move card version
- Before being made a Secret dinosaur, the Cryolophosaurus in the arcade was a move card dinosaur featured in three different move cards ("Recovery", "Haste" and "Light Recovery", respectively). In the anime, Seth took one of the move cards containing the Cryolophosaurus and experimented on it to not only turn him into a battle dinosaur, but also a Secret one, thus creating a very powerful dinosaur.
