Went ahead and deleted the incredibly long and crazy (even for WMG) section on how Wall-E is a ripoff of Portal, obviously done by one of those hardcore Portal fans who somehow manages to see Portal in every single fucking thing ever. There's pretty much no relation between the plot of Wall-E and Portal except both featuring a rogue AI. And in that case, both have more relation to 2001: A Space Odyssey, parts of Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Brave Little Toaster, and Short Circuit than anything else.

Excuse me? You dislike Portal? KILL HIM! Anyways, it's called WILD mass guessing.

Yes. WILD mass guessing. Notice how "Wild" is not the same word as "incredibly stupid and inane". Also, Portal is good. Portal is a great game with good puzzles and a fun sense of humor. That does not mean you can't enjoy things WITHOUT assuming they're secretly Portal in a cunning disguise. Try it sometime! It's fun!

fleb: Cutting the Walls Of Text. The first bullet point was based on a reversed syllogism anyway.

**I'm a conservative douche. And, uh, I loved this movie. Just wanted to make that clear.
***This Troper now thinks he should elaborate on his point. When he said Conservative douche, it only applied to conservatives who say bad things about the movie. Such as Lars and Jonah above. Conservatives who DO like the movie, Patrick J. Ford, do not fall into this catergory, he was only applying douche as a selective term to distinguish away from ALL conservatives. Also because I said they could be conservative douches and/or lack souls, one or both could apply to the situtation depending on what is said in the reason they do not like the movie. How I believe there is no justification to dislike the movie and therefore I think the or part of that sentence is rare or non-existant. As to the claim of misaimed fandom, I think we can say its an inversion of that trope, since they've missed the point of the story and hate it because of it and not actually like it. It can probably be even better chalked up if we say they are Fan Haters

fleb: ... I don't get what this part means. How in a horror movie does saying your own name get used?

  • Right, then the fact that you could use the protagonist saying his own name without alteration in a horror movie shows that this troper lacks a soul.
