Visual Novel: Otometeki Koi Kakumei Love Revo
A few of your Bishounens in Love Revo, clockwise from top left: Ayato Kamishiro, Fukami Souta, Kahara Masaki, Ichinose Ren, Tachibana Kennosuke.

Hitomi: Yesterday some people reacted really severely seeing my figure.. ..But passing out only because of eating a little less than usual, maybe I'm too fragile.
Ryutaro: How much less did you eat?
Hitomi: Three cups of rice and two cups of miso soup, fried eggs and grilled fish....
Ryutaro:…………
Hitomi: The leftovers of yesterday's pork boiled with sugar, soy sauce, sweet sake and salt and macaroni salad…. Oh, mince cutlet and pumpkin croquette, too.
Ryutaro:…………
Hitomi: As a light dessert, ice cream and hot apple pie…I think.
Ryutaro:…………
Hitomi: *sigh* This isn't enough for me after all.
(Ryutaro smacks her on the head)

Otometeki Koi Kakumei Love Revo (乙女的恋革命ラブレボ Otometeki Koi Kakumei Love Revo, lit. "Maidenly Love Revolution LOVE REVO") is a niche dating simulation visual novel series developed by Hune X and first released on the PS2 in 2006. Later the game was also released on Nintendo DS, Microsoft Windows and PlayStation Portable platform. There is also a manga adaption illustrated by Fujinari Yuuki.

The heroine, Hitomi, would be an average highschool girl…if you ignored the fact that she literally weighs 100 kg. The game starts with a flashback of heroine's childhood when she used to be a cute young model, but as she grew up she developed a fondness for sweets and junk foods that she got as gifts (also her weird siscon Onii-chan encouraged her since in his opinion, her smiling face when she eats is the best) and by the 2nd year of high school, she has become rather round.

For better or worse, Hitomi herself doesn’t really care that much about the issues with her weight…that is, until the day some students from her school come to stay at the same mansion she is living in and coldly reject her attempt to make friends with them by insulting her on her figure (either directly or indirectly). Receiving a shock from that, she pledges to lose her large build and return to being the beautiful girl she had been waaaay back in the past. With some "encouragement" from the school doctor and her Onii-chan who has suddenly become very fired up after hearing the story of her humiliation, she sets on a journey to become pretty once again!

Otometeki Koi Kakumei Love Revo contains examples of:

  • Adorably Precocious Child: Souta.
  • Adorkable: Tooru.
  • All Girls Want Bad Boys: Though Ryuutarou isn't really "bad".
  • All-Star Cast: Some big names in the seiyuu world are featured in this game- Daisuke Hirakawa, Nobuyuki Hiyama, Akira Ishida, Mami Kingetsu, Ai Maeda, Hikaru Midorikawa, Daisuke Namikawa, Kenji Nojima, Takahiro Sakurai, and Tomokazu Sugita.
  • Bad Ass: Kennosuke, when facing off against some upperclassmen and Kaede, when it is revealed that he is a very successful assassin and bodyguard.
  • Bad End: If Hitomi fails her diet.
  • Beach Episode: If Hitomi picks Ryuutarou or Tooru to come along with her to her friends' summer vacation.
  • Beautiful All Along: Hitomi, in her good endings, and Tooru, when doing his route.
  • Beauty Contest: Hitomi won a few in her youth.
  • Beneath the Mask: Masaki's "true" self is frosty and distrustful. He even refers to his usual personality as his "mask" in his friendship ending.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Onii-chan and Kaede. Arguably, Tooru.
  • Bishie Sparkle: Pretty much any CG Yurika is in (there are sparkles alongside her Flower Motif, lillies).
  • Bishojo: Yurika and Hitomi, when she loses weight.
  • Bishōnen: All of your love interests definitely qualify. Kaede is a great example. Including Tooru, when on his route towards the love ending.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Yurika loves picking on Hitomi, but acts kind or polite most of the time and is considered innocent and beautiful to the class room boys.
  • Blood from the Mouth: Ayato. You can only see this if you choose to go with him to buy snacks at the culture festival.
  • Bookworm: Ayato and Kaede.
  • Bodyguard Crush: Yurika towards Kaede.
  • Brother-Sister Incest: Onii-chan seems a little too interested in his sister. This trope is heavily hinted to be invoked in Onii-chan's love ending.
  • Brown Bag Mask: The male owner of Elizabeth (the fitness equipment store).
  • Brutal Honesty: Ren and Ryuutarou. Sometimes Kennosuke, though he apologises as his goal wasn't to be rude. Yurika's insults to Hitomi could be seen this way.
  • Cast Full of Pretty Boys
  • Cerebus Syndrome: Love Revo is mostly lighthearted fun, but some routes take on serious tones and the comedic elements are reduced to a minimum (or simply stop occurring).
  • Chick Magnet: The Popular 5 have many female fans. None of them seem to truly bask in the attention, though. Onii-chan, Ryuutarou and Tooru also, to a lesser extent.
  • Childhood Friend: Tooru.
  • Childhood Friend Romance: In Tooru's love ending.
  • Cloud Cuckoo Lander: Kaede.
  • Cool Teacher: Ryuutarou.
  • Cross Dressing Voice: The owner of the wholesale store and the owner of the chemist are male characters with female voice actors portraying them.
  • Cross-Popping Veins: Hitomi, Ryuutarou, Souta and Tooru.
  • Cry Cute: Souta.
  • Curtains Match the Window: Nearly the entire cast! Ayato (sometimes, depends on the artwork), Hitomi, Kaede, Kennosuke, Masaki, the wholesale store owner, Mitsuki, Onii-chan, Rie, Ryuutarou, Shinobu, Satoshi, Yoshihisa, Yuu and Tooru.
  • Cute Little Fangs: Ryuutarou.
  • Dandere: Arguably, Kennosuke.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Masaki, which also doubles as his Despair Event Horizon.
  • Dating Sim
  • Deadpan Snarker: Ren.
  • Defrosting Ice Queen: Ren, and arguably, Masaki.
  • Despair Event Horizon: For Masaki, it's when his best friend Yuuki leaves him behind when the two are attacked by robbers in a store. Masaki would have been in deeper trouble if it weren't for his dog, Stein. Ever since, Masaki no longer trusts anybody, even his parents, and adopted his current personality in order stay on good terms with people. In his epilogue, you learn that even years after coming to trust Hitomi, Masaki still hasn't come to trust anybody else.
  • Ditzy Genius: Kaede. He's very book smart, but is airheaded, clumsy and directionally-challenged.
  • Do Well, But Not Perfect: To trigger some events and the friendship endings (some are needed for 100% Completion).
  • Dojikko: Kaede again. In one of his earliest events, you seem him stacking it with a pile of books in the school library.
  • Drama CD: A wide variety have been released over the years. They include exclusive scenarios not found in the visual novels. Some only came with preorders or purchasing the release from a particular shop/site (an example is Ami Ami.com).
  • Earn Your Happy Ending: And how so. Love Revo is not a game for the lazy. It can be subject to debate when it comes to exactly which character exemplifies this, but for most, it would be Kaede, Masaki, Onii-chan and Ren, who have stricter conditions to achieve full completion.
  • Elegant Gothic Lolita: Mitsuki, the Elizabeth shop attendant.
  • Establishing Character Moment: The moment you meet Yurika, and she insults you for your weight, she pretty much solidified herself as the token bitchy rival typical in otome games.
  • Everyone Loves Blondes: Ren is the only blond out of the 9 obtainable guys, and he's the most popular in-game.
  • Fan Nickname: Sakuragawa Takashi, Hitomi's older brother, is referred to as "Onii-chan" by most of the fandom. Kennosuke is often shortened to "Ken" or "Ken-chan". Also, the game itself is typically called "Love Revo" due to its title's length.
  • Fan Translation: Released in May 2012. Based on the Nintendo DS version released in South Korea. Brought to you by Jjjewel, who also lead the Tokimeki Memorial Girl's Side and Love Plus translation projects.
  • Fat Girl: Hitomi.
  • Formerly Fat: If Hitomi succeeds her diet, and Tooru, if the player is on his love ending route.
  • Friend to All Living Things
  • Gender-Blender Name: Quite a few:
    • Kaede (more commonly a female name. May also have been chosen to reflect his effeminite appearance.)
    • Masaki (more commonly male. A rare female example is Kimi To Boku's Satou Masaki).
    • Mitsuki
    • Natsumi
    • Ren
    • Rin
    • Shinobu
    • Yuu
    • Yuuki
  • Girlish Pigtails: Yuu has them.
  • Girls Are Really Scared of Horror Movies: Hitomi, during some of her dates.
  • Goal in Life: On Kennosuke's route, it's revealed that his absolute goal is to become a pâtissier (pastry chef). He's reluctant to reveal this to his father, since his dad is a boss of a Yakuza (Japanese Mafia) family and wants Kennousuke to be its heir.
  • The Glomp: Souta does this to Hitomi. In some versions of the game, you can see this as a CG.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Most of the female students at St. Reef towards Hitomi, as well as the reason why Yurika constantly picks on her.
  • Guide Dang It: Many players experience this at least once, as Love Revo is a long game with a myriad of events, items, routes and unlockables that don't become available unless meeting specific requirements. 100% completion is mind-numbingly difficult and time-consuming without a guide.
  • Headphones Equal Isolation: Averted by Ryuutarou. He nearly always has them on, except in his own words, "when in the bath or going to sleep" and hints (based on him jokingly propositioning Hitomi along the lines of if she wants to "see for herself when else they come off") at not having them on during "other activities". Despite this, he's quite in tune with everything around him.
  • Hello, Nurse!: Yurika and Hitomi, when she loses weight.
  • Hey, It's That Voice!: Thanks to its All-Star Cast. Well, for those who play any version other than the DS release (which isn't voiced).
  • Hates Being Alone: Souta.
  • High School
  • Hot-Blooded: Takashi/Onii-chan. The guy's always on fire!
  • Hot Teacher: Ryuutarou.
  • Idiot Hair: Masaki and Yuu, though neither fit the personality stereotype associated with the hairstyle.
  • Ill Boy: Ayato
  • Incest Subtext: VERY much so with Onii-chan's route.
  • Incurable Cough of Death: Ayato again, though in his epilogue, a cure is revealed and he is saved.
  • Ink-Suit Actor: Matsuda Satoshi, a Japanese actor who makes an appearance in Love Revo as himself (and also provides the voice of his in-game counterpart).
  • Invisible Parents: The parents of most of the characters are mentioned or make an appearance once or twice and rarely heard from afterwards. Parents are largely unintrusive in the Love Revo world.
  • It's All My Fault: Ren.
  • Japanese School Club: Quite a few. Souta has mentioned that he sometimes temps for some sports clubs when they're short on numbers. It's hinted that there are many more than the in-game established ones. Here are the established ones:
    • Anime/Manga Club. Members: Tooru.
    • Basketball Club. Members: Kennosuke.
    • Book/Literature Club. Members: Ayato.
    • Cooking Club. Members: None established, but Ryuutarou is the teacher who oversees it.
    • Fishing Club. No longer exists. Former members: Satoshi, during his high school days.
    • Ikebana (Flower Arrangement) Club. Members: Kaede and Yurika.
    • Rugby Club. It's unknown if it still exists. Members: Onii-chan was a member when he was a student at St. Reef.
    • Soccer Club. Members: Masaki.
    • Theatre Club. Members: Hitomi and Souta.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Ryuutarou and Ren.
  • Keet: Souta.
  • Lack of Empathy: Ren, especially towards Hitomi at first, when he thinks she is nothing but a fat, lazy slob, and Kaede, when his "true self" as an emotionless assassin is revealed.
  • Leitmotif: All of the main guys have their own theme background music, all simply named [Character name]'s Theme.
  • Let's Play: A humorous one by Angie Gallant. She's also done other ones on Hatoful Boyfriend and Tokimeki Memorial Girl's Side 1 and 2.
  • Life of the Party: Masaki is considered to be this trope by his classmates. It's later revealed to be an act.
  • Limited Wardrobe: Averted. All of the student characters have summer and winter uniforms- there is even a scene in the game where the change of uniforms is discussed. Also, the main characters (plus Rie, Yurika and Yuu) have summer and winter casual clothes, in addition to clothes that are situational to their location (such as bathers at the beach and thick jackets in snowy areas).
  • Long-Haired Pretty Boy: Kaede.
  • Long Hair Is Feminine: Mitsuki, Yurika and Yuu. Also, Hitomi in the future, in the epilogue after her good ending where she doesn't end up with any of the guys.
  • Love Confession: Another staple in otome games. Pretty much every pursuable guy during the lovers endings.
  • Luminescent Blush: Any time a guy gets close to Hitomi. You'll see this at least once with every pursuable character, except for Ryuutarou. However, Tooru blushes the most.
  • Meaningful Name: Souta, whose name is most likely a pun on the "Shota" from "Shotacon".
    • Also possibly with Yurika's last name, "Toujou", may be a pun on the Japanese word for "arrival", which is also pronounced "toujou". Her last name is most likely a reference to her tendency to seemingly appear out of nowhere. Also, the "Yuri" in "Yurika" means "lily" in Japanese. The "ka" in her first name means "fragrance or aroma". In some C Gs featuring Yurika, she is seen with lillies blossoming around her to symbolise her beauty.
  • Megane: Kaede.
  • The Merch: A huge variety- examples include: stationery, keychains/keyrings, badges, towels and a 2006 (PS2 release) fan book.
  • More than Meets the Eye: Many of the characters:
    • Masaki is putting up a "nice guy" facade to keep up his relations with people when his true self trusts nobody and borderlines on misanthropic,
    • Ren is silently agonising over his younger brother Rin's death (in which he believes it to be his responsibility),
    • Kaede is actually a highly efficient and remorseless assassin that is currently Yurika's bodyguard, and
    • Souta appears to be always carefree, but his desire to be around people all the time comes from hating to be alone because since he was little, his parents were always working and he often ended up by himself. He also can't sleep without hearing somebody else's voice.
  • Multiple Endings: A staple for these kinds of games. There 20 endings over all.
  • Nerd Glasses: Tooru. Until he gets contacts due to breaking his glasses during the events of his route.
  • New Transfer Student: Kaede.
  • New Year Same Class: Hitomi, Rie, Tooru and Yuu.
  • Nice Guy: Masaki, though it's revealed in his route to be a facade and Tooru. Souta is generally friendly to everyone (plus being the only guy from the "Popular 5" to be nice to Hitomi from the very start), except towards the members of his fan club (who he's sick of).
  • Noblewoman's Laugh: Yurika.
  • No Sense of Direction: Kaede, very much so! He lives in a mansion within walking distance of his school, but still managed to get so lost on the way home that he caught a train in the complete opposite direction, then realised he needed to go back in the right direction- so he caught another train- but missed his stop because he was so immersed in his reading. By the time he got home, it was around midnight.
  • No Sympathy: Ren in regards to Hitomi's weight, and Kaede.
  • Not So Stoic: Ren and Kennosuke.
  • Not So Weak: Tooru, in his route when Hitomi is getting harrassed by a pushy salesman and during sports day.
  • Older Than They Look: To some, Souta looks more like a primary school child, but he's a first year high school student.
  • Omake: Unlocked after one complete playthrough of the game.
  • One Head Taller: Most of the male cast.
  • Otaku: Tooru, though not as extreme as typical examples of this trope.
  • Perpetual Smiler: Souta is rarely seen without a grin or a smile. Masaki, also.
  • Purple Eyes: Ayato, Kaede, Miki, Rie, Yurika and Yuuki.
  • Rainbow Speak: Keywords needed to unlock character epilogues are highlighted in a colour different to that of the standard dialogue.
  • The Quiet One: Kennosuke, though he's not totally silent. He's just a bit shy and not much of a conversationalist.
  • Rapunzel Hair: Kaede, Miki, Mitsuki, Yurika, Yuu and Hitomi, in the future of her good ending.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: There is an optional event where Hitomi bumps into Souta and Kennosuke working as a pair when required by their school to shop for some items. Souta is the Red Oni, and Kennosuke (even down to his hair colour and eye colour) is the Blue Oni.
  • Rich Bitch: Yurika.
  • Rich Kids: Putting Ren and Yurika aside as the confirmed-to-be wealthy, it's very likely that the rest of the students are from wealthy families themselves (but not as much as Ren and Yurika). They attend a private school (St. Reef School sounds decidedly private, and typically only the rich go to private schools in Japan) and don't bat an eyelid at going on expensive holidays and excursions. Also, Shinobu, a friend of Onii-chan's, mentions that one of the reasons why women are drawn to Onii-chan is due to his family's wealth.
  • Secret Character: Satoshi, a non-pursuable guy. Hitomi can meet him when certain conditions are met. He is voiced by and based on Matsuda Satoshi himself.
  • Secretly Dying: Ayato, but he survives in his love ending.
  • Sempai Kouhai: Kennosuke and Souta as Hitomi's kouhai, and Hitomi as Ayato, Ren and Satoshi's kouhai.
  • Shrinking Violet: Tooru.
  • Shout-Out: In Tooru's dream sequence, it is a shout out to the Power Rangers
  • Sick Episode: On Ren's route.
  • Single Issue Psychology: Masaki's entire outlook on life is based on his one traumatic experience. Masaki ceased to trust anybody from that day onwards.
  • The Snark Knight: Ren, and sometimes, Ryuutarou.
  • Stepford Smiler: Ayato, Souta and Masaki. Onii-chan has some moments of this in his route, too.
  • The Stoic: Kennosuke and Ren.
  • Story Branching
  • Strategy Guide: The official Love Revo fan book (released in 2006, the same year as the PS2 version) doubles as one. They're quite hard to come by, now.
  • Student Teacher Romance: Hitomi and Ryuutarou, when on his route.
  • Sweet Tooth: Hitomi's weight gain was caused by this.
    • Also, Souta really loves his snacks and sweets.
  • Tanabata: Instead of the typical scenes of festivities and wish-making, in Love Revo, Tanabata is one of the three opportunities to give a gift to a guy. The game alludes to this difference when Hitomi mentions how St. Reef does things "differently".
  • ˇThree Amigos!: Hitomi, Rie and Yuu.
  • Two-Teacher School: Ryuutarou is the only teacher (technically, school doctor/nurse) that is seen in the entire game. Occasionally, other teachers are mentioned or briefly heard from.
  • Unwanted Harem: Kennosuke, Ren and Souta.
  • Visual Novel: Love Revo's other gameplay style.
  • What Is This Feeling?: Kaede, during his love ending.
  • Yakuza: Though not focused on, Kennosuke's family is a Yakuza one, and his father is its head.
  • Yakuza Prince: Kennosuke. He is the heir to his Yakuza family.
  • You Didn't See That: After vising Elizabeth- the machine store- many times, Hitomi will accidentally walk in on the male attendant without his mask on. He scrambles his paper bag back on, and tells her to "act like you didn't see that".
  • You Gotta Have Blue Hair: Because of the large number of characters, a variety of colours are utilised:
    • Blue: Kennosuke, Kennosuke's father, the wholesale store owner, Ryuutarou, Shinobu and Souta.
    • Green: Yuuki.
    • Pink: Yuu.
    • Purple: Kaede, Mitsuki and Rie.
    • Unnatural red: Masaki.
  • Your Days Are Numbered: Ayato, but if you complete his love ending and get his epilogue, he will be cured a few years into the future.
  • Zettai Ryouiki: Hitomi is a Rank A, after her weightloss.
