Get ready for the ultimate battle!

Forsaken Chronicle is a small series of Fighting Games almost exclusively found in Australia. The story focusses on the Zephyrus Corporation which is attempting to overthrow the world. Enter The Hero Kierryn who was sent to stop the Big Bad Gage and his plan to take over the world. After a lot of fighting, Kierryn defeats Gage and his One-Winged Angel form only to discover Gage intends to cause an Apocalypse How rather than lose. However, The Starscream Connor shoots Gage and helps Kierryn disable the device. Happy Ever After?

Wrong! Along came the sequel which brings an Eldritch Abomination which Gage had known about and was trying to take over the world because he thought the world was too weak to stop this threat. Some new characters join the cast and Ass Kicking Ensues.

Does it end here? Apparently not, as some secret footage in 2 hints that there is going to be a third game. This has been confirmed to be teasers for a second sequel, this time centering around the Magus project and its mastermind, Shun.

Will it end now? Well, footage from 3 teases at a fourth title, which has been made official. The plot of 4 involves an artifical fusion of "It" and Arthur called Replica and its quest to absorb a being formed from collective human belief in God called Deus. All the While Deus is trying to cause an Apocalypse How which every other member of the cast doesn't want so they set out to stop both Deus and Replica. An Updated Re-release has been anounced which will see the return of both Arthur and Shinrei Fudo to the main series.

The series received another entry in the form of Forsaken Chronicle 5 which starred a new protagonist in the form of Zhane, a karate practicing student whose home was destroyed in the war between Zephyrus and the nations of the world. With only a few pockets of resistance against Zephyrus left, the remnants of the old world order make one last desperate bid to destroy Zephyrus. 5 is also, according to Word of God, the final entry in the series. They later took it back and announced Forsaken Chronicle Unlimited.

Due to the popularity of the game with its loyal fans, a spin-off sub-series entiled Forsaken Chronicle Ultra is presently in the works, with a playable demo available. This series focusses less on science and more on the ass-kicking magic. It also is confirmed to have exclusive characters who will not be ported back to the main series along with the return of Arthur and Balzac from 1 and 2. This game then received its own sequel simply dubbed Forsaken Chronicle Ultra 2, which retells the plot of Forsaken Chronicle 3 but in the Ultra timeline, bringing with it Peter and Shun as well as another Ultra original villain: Scourge.

A few fans have also started making a cg series with the various seasons conforming to the plot of the games. There is also a movie version of Ultra made by the same group.

For this when Zach brings his friends along to the party see Forsaken Chronicle Vs 15 Blades.

For the weapons-based spiritual successor series, see Blades of Othersides.

So far, the series has yet to be made available to the majority of the public.

Forsaken Chronicle provides examples of:

  • Adam and Eve Plot: Not in the conventional sense as Shun is a scientist and knows his science, actually passing biology. Using Connor and Exie Alpha as prototypes, he intends to slowly replace humanity with Magus-infused people. He knows it will take a long time and intends to create more Magus-infused people to interbreed with humans, but Connor and Exie Alpha will be the first!
  • A God Am I: Gage Novus seems to have a god complex.
  • A God I Am Not: "It" during Connor's story, as "It" states that it doesn't think of itself as a god.
  • Angrish: Gage, after fighting him, especially in Connor's story, also to the second incarnation.
    • Connor, you bastaaaaaaaaaard!
    • Zach, I'll Ki- (stab) RAGH!!!!
  • Anguished Declaration of Love: Bluebird openly says that she loves Connor in her ending in 3.
    "Connor...I LOVE YOU!!!!"
  • Asskicking Leads to Leadership: Gage is the head of the Zephyrus Corporation. He also kicks ungodly amounts of ass. Guess why Connor respects his judgement so much. Guess why the Unknown is even following Gage in the first place.
  • Ax-Crazy:
    • The Unknown and Connor Omega.
    • Gage Novus gets a bit like this too.
  • Back from the Dead:
    • Arthur in the Sequel. He then dies again and gets brought back for the Updated Re-release of 4 by Shinrei Fudo.
    • Gage Novus also comes back, but is just called Gage.
    • Averted with Mitchell in Ultra who didn't die, but rather survived the fall that would have killed a normal person...after being beaten to within an inch of life by Gage, thus setting into motion the plot of Ultra. He actually does die at the end, after Connor kills him, but comes back to life for Ultra 2.
    • Just about anyone who's died in the series returns in Unlimited.
  • Badass Bookworm: Shun, Waylon Stolos and surprisingly Gage and Connor. If only Shinya had followed their example...
  • Badass Normal: Sam and Kierryn are the biggest example of these in the series. Zhane joins this list in 5.
  • Bad Boss: Gage destroyed the top half of his headquaters when he first transformed into Gage Novus. He is never shown ordering an evacuation. What happended to the Employees in the top half of the building?
  • Big Bad: Gage in the first game. "It" in the sequel.
    • Gage then reprises his role as the big bad for 5, with Connor acting as his Sub-Boss.
  • Big Good: Maria, who leads the resistance against Zephyrus. She is also Connor's adoptive mother.
  • Break the Cutie: Though entirely unintentional, Gage did send his forces out to kill everyone in the area Bluebird lived so it makes a lot of sense that seeing her friends and family killed right before her eyes would be a little too much. Then Connor came along and saved her...making Bluebird obsessed with Connor.
  • Broke Your Arm Punching Out Cthulhu: Arthur literally broke his arm when he defeats "It" in his story.
  • But for Me, It Was Tuesday:
    • The Unknown pretty much uses this as his excuse for killing Balzac's daughter instead of kidnapping her like planned. Balzac is noticably pissed.
    • Connor pulls a lighter version of this as he doesn't remember saving Bluebird from her untimely end in the first game. When she confronts Connor in 2, she goes noticably crazy when he doesn't remember her. What the hell, Connor?
  • Charles Atlas Superpower: Rikon. His style is called the God Fist for a reason. Fully demonstrated in the opening of 2 where he destroys a building with his fists. Not a small one...a huge office building.
  • Chronic Backstabbing Disorder:
    • Connor betrayed Maria to join Gage, only to kill Gage when he tried to detonate his doomsday device.
    • Shinya in the sequel is just as bad as he first betrayed Gage to help Connor, and then betrayed Connor after he killed Gage. Connor is noticably pissed.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: Bluebird, to a Yandere extend. Exie also gets jealous when girls hang around Connor, especially the aforementioned Bluebird.
    • So much so that they have a Designated Cat Fight in 5 that in no way advances the plot, but is still downright awesome.
  • Did You Just Punch Out Cthulhu?: Defeating "It" counts as this. With some characters you can litteraly punch it to death.
    • And Deus in 4.
  • Ditto Fighter: Played With. Noctis can copy other characters moves, but only a select few from a select few characters.
  • Downer Ending:
    • The Unknowns no input ending in the first game has him get shot by Exie. He dies shortly afterwards.
    • Connor Omega's ending is pretty downer as Connor regains control of himself just in time to watch Exie die. And he was the one who killed her.
    • Hell, even regular Connor pulls one off in Ultra. As he holds his defeated Father, Mitchell, he fondly remembers all of the good times they had. Then Connor remembers all the horrible times, which is enough for him to transform, kill Mitchell and transform back before he loses control over himself. Complete with Slasher Smile.
    • The series in general seems to be heading this way with lost of Anti-Zephyrus characters being dead and all...
  • Early-Bird Cameo: Remnant is confirmed to appear in 4. He first appeared in Ultra 1.
  • Eldritch Abomination: "It"
  • Eviler than Thou:
    • Shinya's reason for betraying Connor and taking over the corporation after the latter killed Gage.
    • Gage then claims to be the above when he's confronted by Shinya in Shinya's story. Shinya is more than slightly pissed.
  • Father to His Men: Gage acts like a Father to Connor. Connor adores Gage like a child adoring their father.
  • Happily Married:
    • Exie marries Connor in her ending in 2.
    • It's implied Bluebird forced Connor to marry her after winning the Lover Tug of War with Exie.
  • I Know Mortal Kombat: Sam chose to become a street fighter after playing series of fighting games which he excelled at.
  • I Want My Beloved to Be Happy:
    • Double Subverted. Bluebird wants Connor to be happy and will do anything to make sure he is... only if he's happy and in love with her.
    • Played Straight in Cat's ending in 3 as she is ready to accept that Connor loves Exie.
  • Iaijutsu Practitioner:
    • Bluebird is this series's resident character for this trope.
    • Noctis, when she copies some of Bluebird's moves.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold:
    • Connor is this. Also Gage when it comes to Connor.
    • In Cat's ending in 2, she ends up in police custody and asks Connor to pay her bail...of $5000. When Connor hangs up, he sighs and says "Oh, boy. Not again".
  • Kamehame Hadouken:
    • Mitchell does this in Ultra.
    • Connor (both forms) and Arthur pick this up in 4.
    • Gage has been doing a similar thing since the original.
  • Killed Off for Real: Balzac dies after the first game. Arthur dies when "It" is destroyed.
    • Though they appear again in the Forsaken Chronicle Ultra series, but this is non canon.
    • 3 has the highest head count in series: Shun, Waylon Stolos, Exie Alpha and apparently Shinrei Fudo.
    • No Shinrei and Arthur are scheduled for the Updated Re-release of 4.
    • Kierryn and Exie are heavily implied to be this in Ultra. Kierryn, understandably, was killed by Gage during their decisive fight. The only person who fought Exie before Gage was about to kill her in the original was Connor. We can all guess what happened...
    • Altair from Ultra gets killed off...by Bluebird.
    • Unknown is confirmed to be killed off for real as of the end of 4.
    • Both Deus and Replica have been killed.
  • Love Interest: Bluebird loves Connor, but Connor is The Stoic, so it's unrequited love. This forms a Love Triangle as Exie loves Connor too. Bluebird then tries to Murder the Hypotenuse. It's then made even more complicated in 3 with the arrival of Exie Alpha. Connor officially has an Unwanted Harem. Also, Cat joins in.
  • Lover Tug of War: Exie and Bluebird do this in Bluebirds story ending. Connor is not impressed.
  • Madness Mantra: Bluebird, after her Anguished Declaration of Love quickly devolves into her crazy self.
"Connor...I LOVE YOU!!! I love you! I love you! I love you! I love you! I love you!"
  • More Dakka: Exie and Connor have very similar movesets. Exie just uses more guns.
  • More than Mind Control / Not Brainwashed: Gage won Connor over by offering him a spectacular and exciting world which made his old life look dull.
  • Ms. Fanservice:
    • Exie has shades of this.
    • Bluebird in 2.
    • Noctis' design was speciffically for Fanservice according to Word of God.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: In Balzac's story he kills Connor, only for the Unknown to reveal that he killed Balzac's daughter. Balzac starts to suffer a breakdown, only to snap out of it and kick the Unknown's ass.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Sam destroys Shinya's mega cannon in his ending in 2. It then blows up an destroys half the city.
  • Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: Yes, Gage, threaten Exie, the Love Interest of Connor. I'm sure he won't turn on you for doing so!
  • Not Blood Siblings: Cat is Connor's adoptive sister...sort of. She and Connor kiss in her ending.
  • Ominous Latin Chanting: Both Connor and Gage's themes feature this.
  • One-Winged Angel: Gage Novus is the form Gage assumes after getting his ass handed to him.
  • Parental Substitute: For Connor, Gage is the substitute father and Maria is the substitute mother. Both of his actual parents are alive. He just doesn't get along with them...at all.
  • Psychic Powers: Fusa has them and uses them in her moveset. Along with guns...which she can control with her aforementioned Psychic Powers!
  • Secret Character: Zach from The 15 Keys makes a playable appearance.
  • Sinister Scythe: The Unknown uses these. The scythes themselves change with his costumes.
  • SNK Boss / That One Boss: Gage Novus in the first game, "It" in the sequel.
    • The former, when fought in story mode on ANY difficulty, can kill even an experienced player in seconds making a fight against Gage Novus more like a Luck-Based Mission.
      • God dammit, Gage! Why do you always open with Hell Step?!! Not only is that attack the fastest in the game, but it hits pretty hard and staggers you even if you're blocking.
    • The latter doesn't kill as quickly as the former, but at the same time "It" can take more punishment than ANY playable character (What did you expect from a final boss?) and its attacks do quite a bit of damage.
    • 3 brings us Shun and Waylon Stolos. The latter is simply a powerful character that the computer can abuse to ungodly amounts. It's the prior you have watch out for. He uses sword strikes faster than Bluebirds and can use Magus powers...without transforming. And in the hands of a computer, he gets sheer broken. His story incarnation is the worst of all as all of his stats have been boosted. He also gains a unique unblockable attack that the playable version lacks.
    • Exie Alpha: Though she is pretty much Exie, and her playable version is actually balanced, her story mode fight is almost as hard as a fight against Gage Novus. Pretty much, she spans her shotgun move which does a hefty amount of damage at close range. Oh, and her unplayable version has her draw it even faster and can even combo with it.
    • God, Noctis is even worse. She has little to no mention in the story and her moveset is needlessly broken. Plus she can copy the best moves from Bluebird, Gage Novus, Connor Omega and Shun. Plus she can switch which one she's copying mid battle. And she doesn't copy all their moveset either, only those really powerful moves.
    • Deus. All of his attacks do damage through blocks. He is the only character who can do it. That and half of his moves are unblockable and deal tons of damage. And he just knows when you're about to drop your guard.
    • Ultimate Replica is less broken, but you can expect the AI to perform ridiculous juggles if it ever gets you into the air. Expect Perfect Play A.I. to be in effect. Oh, and he will read your command inputs.
    • Ultra has a boss rush at the end of the story modes featuring Gage Novus, Noctis, Remnant and new boss Mitchell. You have to defeat Mitchell twice, but he only has defeat the player once. After defeating him the first time, Mitchell transforms into "Shin Mitchell" who moves faster, does more damage and can take off over half your health very quickly. Even his playable version is a tad broken.
    • Ultra 2 provides us with Scourge, who has an enhanced version of Ryan's moveset, though he deals more damage and can take twice as much punishment. Like Mitchell before him, he transforms into a more powerful version of himself for the second round of his fight where he can take even more punishment and hits twice as hard and twice as fast.
    • Connor joins this list in 5 having boosted stats as a CPU in certain story routes complete with input reading and Perfect Play A.I..
      • Delta from 5 features the widest attack range and the highest damage ever seen since the Original Gage Novus. Plus she has several umblockable attacks that her AI loves to spam.
  • Superpowered Evil Side:
    • Connor Omega counts as this.
    • Gage Novus could also count, but Gage was pretty evil to begin with.
    • Maria of all people gains one in Unlimited with the addition of Nu Maria.
    • Whether Lilim is Exie's or Exie Alpha's Superpowered Evil Side is unclear due to her 1p costume having Exie's outift while her 2p is Exie Alpha's.
  • There Is No Kill Like Overkill: Gage Novus is the king of this. Even in the hands of a novice, you can pound on someone after they've been beaten until the replay starts with little effort.
    • His AI in story mode actually does the above.
    • Shinya, surprisingly does this, in contrast The Unknown who does not even attack after he's killed you.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Shinya as of 4. He killed Waylon in 3, marking Shinya's first canon victory, made Replica and controlled the aforementioned Replica. Took a level in Badass indeed. He performed a flat-out No-Sell to Connor in 5. Until Connor was powered up with the Power of Love.
  • Triumphant Reprise: Connor's theme takes several riffs from Gage's, only they sound more heroic. That or Gage takes riffs from Connor's theme for a Dark Reprise.
  • Tsundere: C'mon, Cat. Just say you like Connor. Just don't say it around Bluebird or Exie
  • Unwanted Harem: By 3, Connor has one of these chasing him...and most of them are willing to murder anyone who gets in their way!
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: Gage, according to the Sequel.
  • What If?: Ultra serves as this as: "What if Connor had never doubted Gage and thus never killed Gage, thus saving Kierryn?" In short: "What if Gage won in the first game?"
    • It is confirmed that neither Kierryn nor Exie will be appearing in CG movie for Ultra. Make of that what you will.
    • Connor and Bluebird become the Official Couple of the movie answering even more What If questions. The game doesn't contradict this either.
  • Worthy Opponent: Connor views both Kierryn and Sam as this.
  • Yandere: Bluebird is really obsessed with Connor.
    • Shinya is also slightly Yandere-ish.
    • Delta joins this list being Yandere to either Connor or Kierryn.
