The 5th game in the ''Franchise/RatchetAndClank'' series and first on the [[UsefulNotes/PlayStationPortable PSP]], later ported to the UsefulNotes/PlayStation2. It is the first of the two spin-off games in the series, released by High Impact Games, and is infamous for it's call-backs to the original trilogy.

It revolves around a [[IncredibleShrinkingMan shrinking device]], a kidnapped child, as well as Captain Qwark trying to find his lost parents.

!!This game contains examples of:

* AfraidOfNeedles: Flying Needles serve as enemies in Dreamtime.
* BarefootCartoonAnimal: Ratchet, as he wears his outfit from the first game. He can use shoes later in the game.
* BattleInTheCenterOfTheMind: Well, not really a battle, but near the end of Dreamtime, Ratchet is put into a boss battle against [[spoiler: a dream version of Giant Clank]].
%%* BigBadDuumvirate: Otto Destruct and [[spoiler:Luna]].
* CallBack: Otto's monologue before the final boss fight is very similar to Drek's monologue at the end of the first Ratchet and Clank.
* CanonDiscontinuity: [[http://www.insomniacgames.com/community/showthread.php?56339-Did-Insomniac-Ever-Outright-Confirm-SM-and-SAC-Were-Non-Canon&p=1421220&viewfull=1#post1421220 Insomniac Games confirmed]] that this game and ''Secret Agent Clank'' are non-canon to the main games. ''[[VideoGame/RatchetAndClankIntoTheNexus Into the Nexus]]'' likewise ignores mentioning both games in the Insomniac Museum.
-->"We have always treated them as non-canon while making our games. However, he have done joke nods to them."
** The game is canon in the Japanese version, however.
* ContinuityNod: Several in Ratchet's dreamscape, like Clank's apartment in Bogon and larger form. Then there's this exchange, which mirrors a conversation from the original game.
--> '''Ratchet:''' There she is! Let's get her!
--> '''Clank:''' Ratchet, do you notice anything... unusual about [[spoiler: Luna]]?
--> '''Ratchet:''' Well, she ''does'' seem to have an unusually large door coming out of the back of her head.
--> '''Clank:''' And why do you think that is?
--> '''Ratchet:''' She's... uh... a robot?
* ConverseWithTheUnconscious: Clank does this to a comatose Ratchet midway through the game. [[spoiler:Ratchet was able to hear him, which allowed him to wake up]].
* CuteIsEvil: [[spoiler:Luna]].
* DaddysLittleVillain: [[spoiler:Luna may count as being Otto's "child". After all, he '''created''' it for his evil intentions.]]
* DeadlyDoctor: Ratchet dreams of Qwark clones as chain sword throwing doctors while in Dreamtime.
* DeepSleep: [[spoiler:Luna's mooks force Ratchet into a coma after they capture him. It's at this point where he "visits" Dreamtime]].
* DeliberatelyDistressedDamsel: Luna spends the first 1/3 of the game imprisoned in Kalidon, guarded by Mungo. The heroes defeat the monster, but find out that [[spoiler: "she" [[{{FakedKidnapping}} faked her own kidnapping]] just so it and it's "friends" can kidnap '''them'''!]]
%%* DisneyAcidSequence: Dreamtime.
* DisneyVillainDeath: [[spoiler:Luna, following its defeat. Unlike most examples, we see it hit the ground, '''HARD'''.]]
* DreamLand: Ratchet ends up in a nightmarish version following [[spoiler: his capture by Luna]].
* EnfantTerrible: It's not everyday that you get to fight [[spoiler: an evil robot built to resemble an innocent young girl...]].
%%* EvilAllAlong: [[spoiler:Luna.]]
* EvilGenius: Otto Destruct. [[spoiler:His goal is to become the most intelligent being in the galaxy by extracting intelligence from others.]]
* {{Expy}}: Otto and [[spoiler:Luna]] can be viewed as evil counterparts of [[Literature/{{Pinocchio}} Geppetto and Pinocchio]]. Both Otto and Geppetto are inventors, while [[spoiler:Luna]] and Pinocchio are puppets very valued by their creators and even strongly loyal to them.
* TheFakeCutie: [[spoiler:Luna. It was built to resemble a little girl to lure Ratchet into a trap.]]
* FakedKidnapping: Luna during the first third of the game.
* FantasticVoyagePlot: [[spoiler:Ratchet goes inside Clank to reboot him after he is attacked by Technomites.]]
* FlatEarthAtheist: Ratchet's skepticism of the existence of Technomites, dismissing them as just an old fairy tale. [[spoiler: Naturally, he gets proven wrong.]]
* GameBreakingBug: On your second or third playthrough (PSP version), the Omniwrench all of a sudden stops damaging 90% of your enemies. This will never go away, on every subsequent playthrough. The [=PS2=] version is not affected.
%%* IncredibleShrinkingMan
* MakeMyMonsterGrow: [[{{TheMovie}} The Game]]
%%* ManipulativeBastard:
%%** [[spoiler:Luna.]]
%%** [[spoiler:Otto.]]
* NewGamePlus: Of course. But to get everything, you have to go through the game ''three times''.
* PermanentlyMissableContent: The "Friends Don't Hurt Friends" skill point is lost until a NewGamePlus if you took damage during the Giant Clank "fight" and beat the "battle", as it doesn't reappear after you win.
* SpaceBattle: Clank goes through two of these throughout the game.
* TookALevelInJerkass: Ratchet. His personality in this game is similar to the one in the [[VideoGame/RatchetAndClank first game]], especially during the first 1/3 of the game.
* WalkingShirtlessScene: Ratchet, as he wears his outfit from the first game. He can use a shirt later in the game.
* WouldHurtAChild: [[SubvertedTrope Subverted]], as [[spoiler:the child in question turns out to be fake]].
