Video Game: Playstation Move Heroes

A Massively Multiplayer Crossover between Sony's unofficial mascots: Jak and Daxter, Ratchet & Clank, and Sly Cooper, with his buddy Bentley. It was developed by Nihilistic Software for the PlayStation 3 and released in March 2011 to mixed-to-negative reviews. Watch the trailer here.

The story starts with the heroes being abducted to an alien planet, while someone has "hit pause" on their homeworlds. There they are asked to compete in the very first Inter-Universal Hero Games to determine which of them is the greatest hero. They accept, but quickly become aware there is a bigger plan behind it all.

The game features both single-player and two-player co-operative multiplayer options and requires the Move to play. There are a total of 50 levels, situated in Paris from Sly Cooper, Metropolis City on Kerwan from Ratchet & Clank, Haven City from Jak and Daxter, and Planet X, an original environment created for the game. The actual gameplay consists mostly of mini games such as bowling, throwing and navigating a disc and beating up stuff with a whip.

A question difficult to answer is exactly when this game takes place compared to the continuity of each original series. For example, because Daxter can be seen in his Dark mode it should be after Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier, but for some reason only his Dark mode has his pants, and Jak appears as he did in Jak 3: Wastelander.


This game provides examples of:

  • The Atoner: After being shot into space by the Whibbles, Gleeber begs for forgiveness.
  • Badass: All of the protagonists.
  • Big Bad Duumvirate: Gleeber and Lunk.
  • Boom Stick: Jak's gunstaff.
  • Bowled Over: The "Bowling" weapon class.
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: True to form, Daxter at the end of the game.
  • Brick Joke: Every pair gets one, since their worlds were "put on pause" and they all picked up where they left off, in the end.
  • Deadly Disc: The "Disc" weapon class.
  • Demoted to Extra: Murray only appears twice during the entire game. In the intro, Sly and Bentley try to rescue him from a well secured vault in Paris. Before they can, Sly and Bentley are sucked into a wormhole to Planet X, although he manages to escape and turn off all the lasers shortly after they return.
  • DLC: A pack of costumes, providing a change of appearance for all 6 characters — amongst them, Secret Agent Clank and Daxter's pants.
  • Face Palm: Multiple times, though Clank's note  and Jak's note  stand out.
  • Genius Cripple: Bentley.
  • Handicapped Badass: Bentley again.
  • Hey, It's That Voice!: The main characters are all the same as ever, but it's hard to ignore the fact that Lunk is Razputin, on top of that. They really have united all of the most fondly remembered PS2 platformers.
  • Hooks and Crooks: Sly's cane.
  • Improbable Weapon User: The "Disc" and "Bowling" weapon classes.
  • Let's You and Him Fight: Narrowly averted. It looks like Jak is ready to sock Sly and/or Ratchet before the announcement that they were all the universe's greatest heroes.
  • Magic Pants: Daxter's pants only appear in Dark Mode... is that an Inversion of an Aversion?

  • Off Model: Sly and Bentley look slightly off, most likely because this game isn't cell-shaded. Daxter also looks different from some angles, though how much of that is the move from PS2 to PS3 is uncertain. Also, he only has his pants when he goes into Dark mode. Which has also been altered from its original look (Dark Daxter used to have spikes).
  • Pintsized Powerhouse: The sidekicks are all pretty puny, especially Clank and Daxter. To a lesser extent, this applies to Ratchet, as well. Just look how tall he is compared to Sly and Jak! (He comes up to the shoulder and chest, respectively.)
  • Power Trio: Two, one formed by the heroes and one formed by the sidekicks.
  • Robot Buddy: Clank.
  • Super Wheel Chair: Bentley has traded in the high-tech wheelchair from Sly 3 for a full-fledged hoverchair.
  • Unspoken Plan Guarantee: It's the sidekicks who have Gleeber and Lunk figured out by the end of the games. Bentley invents a tracking device and passes it to Clank, who sticks it to Gleeber before they escape through a wormhole. When Ratchet asks how they knew Gleeber and Lunk wouldn't attack, Bentley explained that they actually listened to Daxter, who'd eavesdropped on their plan.
  • Weapon of Choice: The Melee weapons change depending on which character you're playing.
  • Whip It Good: One of the weapon classes.
  • Year Inside, Hour Outside: No time passes in the worlds where the main characters come from, as Gleeber and Lunk were able to stop them though Murray was unaffected, which allowed him to deactivate the lasers that Sly nearly triggered.
