** Some characters used to have Passive Abilities that gave them a boost agaisnt very specific enemy types, such as Zidane being better suited against Wolf enemies, or Tifa being strong against Skeletons. With the enemies in the game eventually becoming so varied and unique, these abilities became useless, with Edgar's boost against Machine-types being the last time any character was given such an ability.

** Early on in the game's lifetime it was unclear just when characters who were added via special event were actually considered to be a part of the canonical party in the story. This created some very weird moments where Squall (the first character to have an event) was supposedly hanging out off-screen and ditching Zell for no obvious reason (later given a HandWave that Squall remembered until the end of ''FFVIII'' while most of the others only remembered the encounter with Sorceress Edea). Eventually, it was firmly established Character Events were early release of the character, but in-canon the character would not be a part of the story until their Lost Chapter (when the event would return as permanent content).

* BookEnds: If ''Opera Omnia'' is truly the final installment in the ''Dissidia'' series, then the Final Chapter of the game acts as one to the original PSP ''VideoGame/DissidiaFinalFantasy'' game. Both games end with a FinalBoss battle with an godly version of Garland (Chaos and Discord Incarnate), after which the light within everyone taking crystal form joins together to restore the balance between Light and Darkness, before everyone is sent home to their own original worlds. The final scene of both games is the Warrior of Light in a field (presumably outside of Cornelia) prepared to start the final cycle of the original ''[[VideoGame/FinalFantasyI Final Fantasy]]'' game.

** Perhaps as a precursor to Overhead effects, Fujin and Raijin have unique boosted called 'Wind Mode' and 'Thunder Mode', which have a visual effect of the character being charged with wind gales or lightning static. This boost is not considered a "buff" or "overhead effect" for any effect and specifies those by name, they are their own thing. Vayne also had a similar effect when fought as a boss, in which he would either be standing on the ground or floating in the air, which would effect if he was currently weak to magic and vulnerable to melee attacks, or vice-versa.

*** Even before that, the game released Silver weapons and armor that when capped would provide negligible boost to a couple of stats. They even had their own unique draw animation (the sphere turning silver), however they were eventually phased out and new characters stopped receiving them. Any previous silver equipment can still be purchased with gems, however.

* EasyLogistics: For much of the story, the question of how everyone's needs are accomodated is generally unaddressed except when the {{Big Eater}}s get together. Ignis finally raises the issue directly in Act 2 and is informed that the airship provides all the food they require and never seems to run out of space for everyone to stay. Another scene elaborates on this when Noel and Chelinka note that they have sometimes gone for long stretches without eating ''or'' sleeping, as though their bodies have been suspended in time--they eat out of habit and comfort.

** Ignis' second skill is called Quick Recipe''h'', as a nod to the way he says his {{Catchphrase}} in ''XV''. He even says the phrase itself in one cutscene when discussing what to cook.

* GotMeDoingIt: After Selphie joins the party, her "Booyaka!" CatchPhrase catches on to the rest of the party, much to both Serah and Lightning's confusion. Serah however, starts to join in on the fun as well, making Lightning pull a comical EtTuBrute in response.

** As a whole, this mobile game tosses the tradition of just having main heroes and villains being the sole characters with the exception of a few fan favorite allies out in the trash. Instead, opting to bring in most of the party members from each game as well as characters you wouldn't expect like the Warriors Of Dawn. As a result, every party member in each game has gained a voice actor.
