Aliens and Army Doctors
Also known as The Space Octopus Saga.
When Doctor John Watson heard a crash while on the battlefield in Afganistan, he assumed it was a downed helicopter and rushed to help. Instead, he finds the wreckage of a UFO and an alien who changes his life. Eventual Slash Fic pairing Sherlock and John

Basically, the aliens went undercover as humans to help establish peace, in the hopes that a peaceful humanity would be more open to meeting other species. A cross between They Look Like Us Now and A Form You Are Comfortable With.
