Tropers: No Shit
Sometimes, a character in a show will point out something obvious. This is either because the producers and/or writers felt that the "viewers" wouldn't pick up the hint. Other times, its part of the characters personality. Usually this goes ignored, until someone, typically The Lancer or the Deadpan Snarker, points it out in character. When this happens, its a "No Shit", moment.

A NS moment is not merely someone pointing out the obvious. This is reserved for when one of the characters goes out of their way to point out that the information conveyed was completely pointless, and that they feel offended by this display of incompetence. Expect the phrase, "No shit, really?!" to be uttered. If the show is for kids or doesn't use abrasive language, then something similar will be said while getting the point across regardless.

When there are a lot of these in a show, its most likely due to an Idiot Plot. If someone keeps saying this when perfectly valid information is being provided, then they are typically a Jerkass or, in the case of complex details, a TV Genius.
