That's me, right...?
...Yep, that's me.
So hi!
Um... I can't think of anything witty to say. So I guess I'll just talk. I am 19 years old. I love hyperanalyzing things I like, even if I'm not very good at it yet. Therefore, TV Tropes was a dream come true.
I love writing Fan Fic. I mostly post to to my deviantART page, but I do have several private works going between me and my friends, inclduing my dear RoyalFanatic.
...What the dang else can I say that won't also apply to my tropes list?
Favorite Series/Works:
Troper Works:
This Troper exhibits examples of:
- Afraid of Needles: You kidding? Between Cuanta Vida and Episode 6 of Mortal Kombat Legacy, I can't trust those things.
- Apologizes a Lot
- Alternative Character Interpretation: My perception of several characters throughout the years.
- Attention Deficit Creator Disorder and/or Attention Deficit... Ooh, Shiny!: Fanfics + Internet + School = <10 words typed/week.
- Author Avatar: Her name is — one guess — Gancena.
- Berserk Button: All bigots, GTFO.
- Big Eater
- Brilliant, but Lazy: I've been told that I'm a good writer. However, I can't nudge myself to actually write during 70-90% of my free time.
- This does also affect my schoolwork; I choose the Internet over it any day. But there's something beautiful in the way I handle it all: No matter how much I procrastinate, I always get all of my assignments done — with quality — on time. I suppose after five years of the same game, it comes naturally.
- Captain Obvious: Sometimes without thinking.
- Cat Smile: After watching Konata for so long, I naturally try to imitate this.
- Clap Your Hands If You Believe: I have even at least attempted to shape fictional events through this line of thought.
- Cloudcuckoolander
- Covert Pervert: I read lots of smut fic. Only a handful of people know this. You are now among them.
- Crack is Cheaper: I have recently become a bit of a shopaholic in regards to my fandoms' merchandise.
- Crowning Moment of Awesome: I RickRoll'd my senior field trip when we went to a karaoke restaurant. Classmates told me they have videos.
- To top it off? It wasn't my idea. Other students had decided to do it as a group, but we were running out of time. It was my turn, but I decided to let the Rick Roll roll! Meaning that it took everyone by surprise in some way, shape or form.
- Curtains Match the Window: Technically. Depends on whether you count my hair as black or dark, dark brown.
- Cuteness Proximity: Turned Up to Eleven with Pikachu.
- The Daria: With less frequency upon coming to college.
- Dethroning Moment of Suck: In freshman year of high school, I wrote a Lemon for my then-One True Pairing, since I could never find a thing about them. Then I took it to school. Then I shared it — not with just friends, though. With random students. It actually went pretty well until some asshole turned me in. And to top it off? I later found a fic for that same pairing. It was better. Much better. Yet I have found that my feelings about this bounce between Crowning and Dethroning...
- Desperately Looking for a Purpose in Life
- Ditzy Genius: High INT, low WIS.
- Do Not Call Me Paul
- Dreaming of Things to Come: This happened once in relation to Cuanta Vida... Spoilers will come with this explanation. After page 83, I was determined to find out, through a dream, where Scout was at the time. I instead learned that Sniper was the one who needed finding. I realized this because finding him was the plot of the dream I had — I even ended up asking strangers if they'd seen him. I could feel Rojo lurking around. And in a mental image I had within the dream, I could not clearly distinguish Sniper's eyes. Realizing that I'd been fairly warned made it both easier and harder for the events that followed to sink in.
- Everything's Better with Spinning: Because I have the chair for it. Whee~
- Expanded Universe: In my head, often projecting itself onto my real life, is a world encompassing elements of my favorite series and more. It is partly forged by and therefore partly shared with RoyalFanatic.
- Face Palm: In high school, at dumb classmates.
- Fan Fiction: I write these.
- Fangirl
- Forbidden Fruit: There is one fic I have outright banned myself from reading, for reasons too verbose for a TV Tropes example.
- "Funny Aneurysm" Moment: I like to call myself insane or unstable for laughs. Then... see Heroic BSOD, below.
- Gamer Chick
- Geek
- Genre Blind: I simply don't notice some fictional "formulas".
- Girls Love Stuffed Pokemon: It was actually a stuffed Pikachu that started my rapid and eternal descent into hardcore geekdom.
- Go Mad from the Revelation: When I learn something that surprises me, I will spazz out in some way.
- Grammar Nazi: In writing, at least. I tend to let conversation slide.
- Grass Is Greener: I'm fairly convinced that it'd be easier to find my place in another world entirely.
- Gratuitous Foreign Language: Subverted with my Spanish — both of my parents were born in Puerto Rico, though I only started learning the language when I got to middle school (I'm in my fifth year of formal classes). However, since I got into Lucky Star and Team Fortress 2, I'll occasionally use phrases from Japanese, French, German, Russian and Italian (though the Italian came out of Cuanta Vida rather than TF2). However, I would like to learn as many of these languages as I can so that it's not just gratuitous.
- Growing Up Sucks
- Headphones Equal Isolation
- Heroic BSOD: Several.
- Due to the Dethroning Moment, my parents stopped me from writing fic for a while. Even though that's long since over, I never really gained that momentum back.
- I once got so sick of school that I began to think that graduating and going to college wouldn't be worth it. I, through my psychologist, told my parents that I wanted to drop out of high school. Since she got to me first, my mom and I had a long talk about why I wanted to do so. She also made her position clear: No. That's not the kicker, though. The kicker is that she believed I was depressed and considered taking me to a psychiatrist, which I've heard isn't always a bright idea. I've believed I was neurotic for some time, but to hear it from someone close to me in a serious setting... I moped for quite a while afterwards...
- Additionally, this tends to happen in regards to fiction. Most recently, Cuanta Vida's been tugging my emotional strings all over the place. And now... page 88.
- As I write, it is 4:06 AM on June 29, 2010. I think I just had one upon learning about Giygas. Seeing the boss battle, reading his history, taking the creator's trauma into context and seeing some genuinely disturbing theories on the perceived fetus metaphor.
- For a short time last semester, I outright lost faith in friendship, something I intend to carry over to a future fanfiction.
- Heterosexual Life Partners: With RoyalFanatic, even if we're separated by several states.
- Hypocritical Humor: Like Strong Bad, I make grammar mistakes despite my nitpicking over others'. As everyone does. Humorous to others, but not so much to me...
- Iconic Item: The number of items I own/use is subject to change, but I always, always wear a pin depicting a character from Cuanta Vida or This Is The Worst Idea Youve Ever Had and a small medical bracelet.
- I Just Want To Be Badass!
- I Just Want To Be Loved.
- I Just Want to Be Special...
- Just Ignore It: My justification for not keeping up with news. If I don't worry much about something, it'll go well or get better. This is best accomplished by thinking about what I actually want.
- Lawful Good: Mostly because I was raised that way. I should hope that I can be Neutral Good and even Chaotic Good if the need arises.
- Loners Are Freaks
- Most Fanfic Writers Are Girls: Subverted. Yes, I am a girl, but that's not the whole point of the trope. While I do include romance in my fics, they're either a subplot or already established so that only doses of fluff are necessary. I just like to mix it in with my adventure times, really.
- Original Character: Gancena. She has over a dozen incarnations/variations, most of which you'll never see.
- Perverse Sexual Lust: For Raiden, that one guy I really hate, and Proto Man.
- Proud to Be a Geek
- Seen It a Million Times: Not me, but everyone I know. However, as I grow older and take in more works, I occasionally find myself muttering this.
- Self-Deprecation
- Self Insert Fic: A slew of private fics... and a few public ones.
- Shout Out: References to any of the favorite series listed — and even some series that aren't — are an integral part of my daily conversations.
- Shrinking Violet
- Sliding Scale of Idealism Versus Cynicism: Sometimes the two even mix. See Just Ignore It and Zero Sum Game.
- Sliding Scale Of Longing for Fictionland And Daydream Believer: With a heavy lean towards the latter, thanks to the possibility of AlternateUniverses.
- So You Want To Live Forever
- Sweet Tooth
- Tender Tears: For fictional characters and events. Frequently.
- The Reveal: I have Asperger's Syndrome.
- TV Tropes Will Enhance Your Life: My case, anyway.
- Unreliable Narrator: In regards to my family, especially my parents. When I'm mad at them, I seem to make them come off as more oppressive than they really are.
- Violation of Common Sense: Often, but not as often as I think.
- Wham Episode: Being depledged from my beloved co-ed fraternity, and a follow-up episode upon telling my parents.
- Wham Line: Several, with varying effects:
- 6th Grade, while reading a document titled "Conference": (My name) has been diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome.
- 7th Grade, about my 6th grade science teacher: "I wanted to tell you that Ms. Campbell has passed away."
- Spring 2007, during the incident under Dethroning Moment of Suck: "Coach wants to see you."
- February 2010, reading Cuanta Vida, page 88, panel 9: "I'm afraid he did not make it zhrough ze night."
- January 2011, reading Sin Pararse, page 14: "Ans ur frnt door."
- April 2011, playing Mortal Kombat 9: "You are not authorized for portal use."
- What an Idiot: See Dethroning Moment of Suck. This is exactly why I invoke the You Suck trope on myself.
- Yaoi Fangirl and Yuri Fangirl
- You Suck: My thoughts on nearly all my past selves.
- Your Mom
- Your Mind Makes It Real
- Zero Sum Game: I recently came to believe that the best way to work towards a perfect world is not to pay attention to the current world unless necessary by immediate circumstance (like if someone in front of me is in danger, for instance). So I started paying attention only to what was important to me: academics, my friends, Webcomics, the Internet in general, and doing good things when the opportunity presents itself.
