* AccidentallyCorrectWriting: After noticing the large number of references to unseen prior events in ''VideoGame/RedFactionArmageddon'', he suggested that there was supposed to be some kind of intervening game to serve as backstory, and the intervening game would have been dreadful, judging by the fact that ''Armageddon'' got made instead. He's about two-thirds right, as it turns out; there was a Creator/SyFy original movie based on the series that was meant to serve as backstory, and by all accounts, it was indeed dreadful.
* CowboyBebopAtHisComputer: Graham Stark describes ''X-Blades'' as ''Why You Don't Outsource Anime To America'' during his guest appearance, even though it's actually developed in Russia.
* DeliberateFlawRetcon: He's been known to do this on behalf of games he's particularly fond of, such as arguing that the clunky, awkward combat in the ''Franchise/SilentHill'' series aids in building the atmosphere and tension.
* FunnyCharacterBoringActor: In contrast to the witty, fast talking personality he has on the show, Croshaw is actually a socially awkward introvert. He even specifically requests that fans not approach him if they recognize him, as he is uncomfortable with interacting with his fans.
* MarthDebutedInSmashBros: [[invoked]] He never even heard of Marth before playing ''Brawl'', and based on his other reviews, shouting "Franchise/FireEmblem" (or "VideoGame/FireEmblemAkaneia", which is where Marth ''actually'' debuted) loud enough near him [[BrownNote will cause his brain to explode.]]
* OneOfUs: Obviously considering he's a video game critic, but he's also been known to throw around the sort of terminology you normally only see on ThisVeryWiki (GenreDeconstruction for example). He has even directly referred to this wiki in his [[LetsPlay/LetsDrownOut Let's Drown Out]] series. However, this part is a bit of a subversion, as in the last episode he called tropers "losers with no intention of improving themselves" (paraphrased).
* ReferencedBy: The episode "Hero Punctuation" of ''WebAnimation/DoraleousAndAssociates'' has the group trying to get hired by "King Yatzee of Meh," who gives scathing critques of each mercenary, with simple cartoon flashcards for visual aid. His guards armor is fashioned to make them look like Imps.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen: Ben was requested by fans to review ''VideoGame/{{Homefront}}'' but he declined as he didn't want to review another "right-wing military shooter", though he did address the game in his review of ''VideoGame/HomefrontTheRevolution''.
* WikiRule: [[http://zeropunctuation.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page Yes, seriously]]. It's mostly just audio transcripts of each episode.
