Trivia / Where the Dead Go to Die

  • MacGyvering: The motion capture used on ''The Mask That The Monsters Wear" was done with a jury-rigged Kinect.
  • Spiritual Successor: Many commentators consider this animation's answer to A Serbian Film.
  • Streisand Effect: It seems part of its audience was attracted by negative reviews from various internet reviewers like Diamanda Hagan.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • There were six shorts planned to feature the setting and recurring characters, but only these three were made. Of the remaining three, The Lovening, a story about a cult of personality, was retooled twice, first into Dogshit which was scrapped, then used again in a heavily modified format for his later film When Black Birds Fly. One of the other two shorts would have supposedly involved a child believing themselves to be a superhero, going out in a homemade costume, and encountering actual criminals.
    • Jimmy originally submitted just the first two films to the publisher, but at 45 minutes combined, they felt it was too short for them to release.
    • The first short was originally intended as a far more humorous Black Comedy Homage to Lassie, but was changed to focus more on the horror when James found it didn't work without the laugh track.
