• Disowned Adaptation: Initially at least, the Edgar Rice Burroughs estate was not happy with Dynamite's publication, specially due Dejah's nude variant covers since they felt could harm their brand. They filled a lawsuit against the publisher over trademark infringement until it was amicably settled in 2014, and they have since worked together into relaunching the title.
• Flip-Flop of God: As a result of Tardos and Mors Kajak's Death by Adaptation, writers have gone back and forth on whether they survived or not, given that the readers never see the corpses and just hear about their deaths from second-hand characters. The final story arc in the first volume apparently saw Tardos coming back to life, but he was revealed to be an imposter. One miniseries published afterwards showed Tardos alive and well, making his status even more confusing. The 2016 Dejah Thoris miniseries depicted her father Mors and the sole ruler of Helium, omitting Tardos completely.
