The scene with the Widow Jackson and her son, Andy, in the second to last episode, may have been loosely inspired by a Real Life incident in the boyhood of president Andrew Jackson. He, however, refused to clean the Redcoat's boots and got slashed at for it, while the boy in the series eventually listens.
