Trivia / The Next Step

Go To

  • Dawson Casting: Logan Fabbro, Victoria Baldesarra, Myles Erlick, and Briar Nolet were all born in 1998.
    • Victoria Baldesarra was 13-years-old during filming for the pilot.
  • Like Goes with Like: Completely subverted. Many fans of the series shipped West and Tiffany and later West and Thalia, seeing as they were the only two black characters of the opposite sex. Although, when West finally receives a love interest, it is Emily, who is white.
    • When Thalia, who is biracial, enters a relationship, it is with Eldon, who is white.
    • When LaTroy, who is black, enters a relationship, it is with Amy, who is white.
  • Separated-at-Birth Casting: Unlike Emily and Riley, or Phoebe and Kate, who portray siblings but look nothing alike, the brother-sister pair Piper and James uncannily look alike and even have the same mannerisms.
  • The Danza: This trope is very common with the new characters in Season 3, as the people behind the show thought it would be easier for the rookie actors. This was later extinguished, as it became too confusing.
    • The characters Cierra and Skylar are named after their actresses, Cierra Healey and Skylar Healey respectively.
    • Abi is portrayed by an actress named Abigail Bergman.
    • A J-Trouper named Tyler is portrayed by actor Tyler Hutchings.
    • Elite dancers Jen, Shantel, and Nick are portrayed by Jennifer Taylor, Shantel Angela Vailloo, and Nicolas Maiorano respectively.
  • Unexpected Character / What Could Have Been: She was meant to be in Grey's Anatomy but character rights still have to be discussed before Giselle can appear.
