• Acting for Two: The entire cast is only three people — Jack Mercer voices Popeye and Wimpy, Bob McFadden voices the remaining male characters, and Corrine Orr voices all the women and children.
• Hilarious in Hindsight: Flash Gordon, Mandrake the Magician and The Phantom appeared together for the first time in this special. They would team up again in the 1986 animated series Defenders of the Earth (which also had a one-episode appearance by Prince Valiant) and the comic book Kings Watch.
