Trivia: The Fly
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: Curse of the Fly had absolutely no home video releases before the 2006 box set.
  • Meaningful Name: Eric Stoltz's character's name in The Fly II is Martin Brundle, and the creature he transforms into is nicknamed "Martinfly." Eric was originally cast as Marty McFly in Back to the Future, until he was replaced by Michael J. Fox.
  • Name's the Same: Seth's son is called Martin. Martin Brundle is also the name of a British former race car driver.
  • Star-Making Role: For Jeff Goldblum.
    • So much so that Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert actually said he was snubbed an Oscar nomination for Best Actor because of the Academy's refusal to consider horror when working out candidates. It truly is one of Goldblum's most riveting performances.
  • What Could Have Been: Musician Bryan Ferry originally composed a song called Help Me at Mel Brooks and Stuart Cornfield's commission and was originally going to be played in the movie's closing credits. However, David Cronenberg, despite liking the song, felt that it was inappropriate to the film itself and after screening to Brooks and Cornfield, they all agreed that the song didn't mesh with the film, resulting with the song being played only in the film's bar scene and not being included in the movie's soundtrack album making the song extremely rare.
    • Geena Davis was reportedly involved with an alternate sequel to the 80's film in the 1990s, to be directed by her then-husband, Renny Harlin, titled Flies. The script was said to feature a story where Veronica does not die in childbirth, and instead gives birth to twin boys.
      • Cronenberg himself wished to do a follow up film that was (in his words) "more of a sequel or a sidebar". Budget constraints among other things kept the film from moving forward.
    • A second remake was in the works, to be directed by Todd Lincoln, produced by Fox Searchlight, and was to be released in 2006.
