- Acting for Two: Noorin Gulamgaus plays two wildly different characters, Idrees and Sulayman.
- Actor-Inspired Element: Many of Parvana's mannerisms were influenced by the personality of her voice actress Saara Choudry.
- Actor-Shared Background: Voice actors Kawa Ada (Razaq) and Noorin Gulamgaus (Idrees, Sulayman) are themselves Afghan refugees who lived under the Taliban regime. Ali Badshah (Nurullah) is Pakistani-Canadian, but has a wife who is also an Afghan refugee.
- Children Voicing Children: Saara Chaudry was twelve voicing Parvana. Soma Chhaya was a little older, fifteen voicing Shauzia, but still counts.
- Creator's Oddball: The first full-length Cartoon Saloon feature not based on Irish folklore, this film is significantly darker and bleaker than the studio's other works, with fantasy elements constrained to the Story Within a Story. Notably, it's also currently the only Cartoon Saloon feature not directed by Tomm Moore (but rather by his Secret of Kells co-director Nora Twomey).
- Descended Creator: Kawa Abu was the dialect coach, and also voiced Razaaq.
- Fake Nationality: Saara Chaudry (Parvana) is Canadian of Indian and South African heritage, and Soma Chhaya (Shauzia) is American, also of Indian heritage.
