Trivia / Spandau Ballet

Go To

  • Follow the Leader: A lot of prospective synthpop groups and New Romantics followed their lead in the early eighties. By the end of the decade, Spandau Ballet themselves would be accused of switching their sound to compete with the AOR trends.
  • Similarly Named Works: In the music world alone, "Toy" shares its name with albums by David Bowie, Yello, A Giant Dog, Funkadelic, Uri Cane, and the band Toy, as well as a song by Netta Barzilai.
  • Throw It In!: Gary Kemp found himself so blocked at one point while writing the lyrics to "True" that he just gave up and wrote in "Why do I find it so hard to write the next line?" This actually helped him move on and finish the song, and the band decided to keep it.
