Trivia / Space Cop

• Creator Backlash: Played for Laughs. The RedLetterMedia crew openly deride the movie as terrible, to the point of being a Running Gag across their various shows as a standard by which terrible movies are measured. Whenever they compare something to Space Cop, it is not said favorably. Jokes have also been made about how poorly it performed, and about giant stacks of unsold Blu-rays. This is likely just a bit of self-effacing humour on the crew's part, as the movie is pretty openly goofy and features the same sense of humour as their more recent output.
  Jay: If your movie is being compared to Space Cop, you know you've done something really wrong.
• No Budget: The film uses very obvious miniatures and cheap CGI for all of its effects.
• Troubled Production: The film was in development for a long time. RedLetterMedia released a behind the scenes video which detailed some of the issues. Initial filming was cancelled after only two days, as they had no sets, plan, or actors. Rich also suffered a horrible allergic reaction to a cat the first day (pictures of which became a Running Gag on Best of the Worst). The crew in general was not prepared for the toll of a sci-fi movie compared to their past features, as this meant more effort on visual effects and sets than they were used to.

  • Mike Stoklasa stars as the sidekick Ted Cooper and also lends his voice to a number of other characters, including the Big Bad.
  • Reoccurring Best of the Worst guest Tim Higgins plays both the Mayor of the Moon and the Bartender.
