Trivia / Snow White: A Tale of Terror

Go To

  • Actor Allusion: Sigourney Weaver got Brian Glover killed accidentally in Alien3 as well.
  • Awesome, Dear Boy: Sigourney Weaver signed on for the chance to play a more sympathetic Evil Queen than is usually done in Snow White adaptations.
  • Billing Displacement: Brian Glover gets billed before Monica Keena (the protagonist!) and David Conrad (Peter), despite playing a character less important than theirs. Taryn Davis gets prominent billing too, despite only appearing in the first twenty minutes.
  • Fake American: Odd examples, since the story is clearly set in Europe. But Sam Neil, Brian Glover and Frances Cuka all affect American accents to play their characters.
  • Follow the Leader: Snow White & the Huntsman, Maleficent, Once Upon a Time and even Wicked take cues from this for the Grimmification and revisionist nature towards a fairy tale.
  • Missing Trailer Scene: A line from Claudia saying "If you're going to play cat and mouse, just remember I'm the cat."
  • Playing Against Type: Monica Keena in the 90s was normally perky blonde party girls (such as in Dawson's Creek).
  • Playing with Character Type: Claudia Hoffman starts off like a seemingly normal Sigourney Weaver character...before getting a Faceā€“Heel Turn to become the wicked queen from the classic tale. Even so, she's still a Mama Bear, but villainous.
  • Shown Their Work:
    • The portraits of Claudia and the elder Liliana Hoffman are done in the correct medieval art style.
    • Lili's fate caused by the apple is a medical condition known as "locked-in syndrome", where she can see and hear but can't communicate verbally or physically. Except for the eyes.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • The film was planned to be released theatrically but ended up as a Made-for-TV Movie on Showtime. It did get released theatrically in Europe however.
    • Lili was apparently written with Alicia Silverstone in mind.
