- Bowdlerize: In the late-1990s, the show was rerun on PAX, a wholesome family-friendly channel, and Sisters was no exception to the scissors. Most notably, the first scene of the pilot was cut because of the taboo-busting orgasm conversation.
- Hide Your Pregnancy: Sela Ward was pregnant during the 93-94 season, but this trope was employed (note that Teddy is frequently sitting down and/or clutching a pillow in several episodes. Then the show went on hiatus for several weeks, presumably to account for her maternity leave), even though TPTB could have easily included her pregnancy in the show, as her character was involved with someone.
- Heather McAdams was pregnant during the 95-96 season, but this was disguised with the usual "head and shoulders" shots, plus her character being sent off on a police training exercise.
- Irony as She Is Cast: Patricia Kalember's real life husband playing the man her character cheats on her TV husband with.
- Milestone Celebration: The 100th episode had a guest appearance from Willard Scott. Come on, you knew that had to be special.

- Charlie was played by Jo Anderson, then recast with Sheila Kelley for the show's final season.
- Reed was played by three actresses: Kathy Wagner, Ashley Judd, and Noelle Parker.
- Real-Life Relative: Patricia Kalember (Georgie) and Daniel Gerroll (Dr. David Caspian) are married in Real Life.
