Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat bears the official legal name of...wait for it...Richard Blood. His name is actually Blood and they call him Steamboat?!
Yeah, well, can you imagine him as anything but a clownish heel if he went with the name, "Dick Blood"?
In one of wrestling's great ironies, his bookers had him go by Steamboat instead of his own given last name because he bore a strong resemblance to an older wrestler named Sam Steamboat. This, however, came about because Ricky himself was such a natural babyface that his bookers didn't believe the fans could get behind anyone surnamed Blood.
