Trivia / Mystery Science Theater 3000 S04 E12: Hercules and the Captive Women

Go To

  • Deleted Scenes: Due to time constraints, several scenes of the film were removed from the presentation:
    • A domestic scene of Hercules and his wife Deianera. She persuades Hercules to spend more time at home rather then go to another journey. When their son Hylas and King Androcles learns of this change of plans, they suddenly invite Hercules to a farewell banquet for the King's now-solo journey...
    • The sailors try to strand Hercules and Androcles on the island by sailing away on the Galley. Hercules grabs the anchor and pulls the ship back. The sailors end up being stranded as Hecules, Androcles, and Timoteo sail away.
    • A storm wrecks the ship.
    • When Hercules reveals Ismene to Queen Antinea, it is revealed that she is her daughter. Antinea acknowledges her.
    • Ismene is dressed up.
    • Going to bed, Hercules gets attacked by an amnesiac Androcles, who makes veiled words of a great threat. Antinea enters and has the man removed. She apologizes to Hercules for lying about not knowing Androcles, wanting to spare him the fact of his present insanity.
    • Hercules meets up with Timoteo, learning to his shock that Hylas is in Atlantis.
    • Zenith the High Priest's appearance after the outcast's disintegration.
  • Serendipity Writes the Plot: According to Joel, the idea of having Gypsy be present during the first several minutes of the film was because the opening contained too much narration, and not enough material for them to make riffs on.
  • Throw It In!: It's very clearly obvious during the "good natured brawling" segment that the Crow puppet broke (either from slamming into Joel or from Joel smashing the prop chair over it).
  • What Could Have Been: According to the episode guide, the "Lawn Baby" invention exchange originally ended with Frank putting the baby doll in the Lawn Baby's rapidly spinning chair. The writers decided this was a bit too much, so now the sketch ends with Forrester taking the "baby" from Frank and scolding him for his carelessness.
