Trivia / Muppets Tonight

Go To

  • Breakup Breakout: Seymour and Pepe debuted on Muppets Tonight as a double act trying to break into showbiz. Since then, Pepe went on to appear in many later Muppet productions while Seymour disappeared.
  • Channel Hop: From ABC to the Disney Channel.
  • Cowboy BeBop at His Computer: The summary in The Complete Directory of Prime Time and Cable TV Shows incorrectly refers to Clifford as the producer, when he is the show's host (and Kermit is the producer).
  • Creator Backlash: Kevin Clash hated the modifications made to Clifford in the show. Particularly, replacing his sunglasses with eyes. To the point where Clash said he'd not perform the character again if the shades were ever removed. Fortunately, in any of Clifford’s later appearances, he got his glasses back.
  • Distanced from Current Events: The Sandra Bullock episode, involving a Mad Bomber threatening to blow up the studio, was delayed because its original airdate was on the anniversary of the Oklahoma City bombing. (A Boy Meets World rerun was aired instead.)
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: As of 2024, it has received no video release. It was once said that this series would see a DVD after all of The Muppet Show was released, but The Muppet Show box sets stalled in 2008 with two seasons left unreleased. Although The Muppet Show eventually was near-fully released on Disney+ in February 2021, the odds of this series getting the same treatment are admittedly far lower.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • According to Leslie Carrera Rudolph , there was meant to be a song sung by Spamela Hamderson in the Prince episode, but it was cut out.
    • Loose Tooth Music has an alternate theme song for the show, titled "Puttin' On A Show", on their website. This went unused in favor of the final theme song.
