• Children Voicing Children: Daisuke Namikawa (Alfred) was thirteen years old at the time of the first OVA's release.
• Cross-Dressing Voices: The English dub, however, has Al voiced by a woman, Brianne Siddall.
• He Also Did: This OVA has the same director (Fumihiko Takayama) as the 1982 movie version of The Wizard of Oz, which Takayama made when he was at Topcraft. And perhaps it's no coincidence that this OVA also has a character named Dorothy.
• Milestone Celebration: Created to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Gundam. Also notably, it was the first Gundam anime to not be directed by Yoshiyuki Tomino.
• The Other Darrin: In the few games when the plot from this OVAs appears (like SD Gundam G Generation) Alfred is voiced by Kumiko Watanabe, since his original voice actor (Daisuke Namikawa) has become too old to reprise that role. This is Hilarious in Hindsight since Watanabe married Kouji Tsujitani, who voices Bernie.
• What Could Have Been: Reportedly, the original plan for the OAV had a doubly tragic conclusion with both Bernie and Christina to be killed off. In the end, Chris was spared.
• You Sound Familiar:
  • Steiner Hardy's voice actor Yosuke Akimoto previously had a minor role as the captain of the Musaka in Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack.
  • Kōji Totani (Commander Killing) voiced minor roles in the first three Gundam TV series set in the Universal Century.
