* AwesomeDearBoy: When an interviewer asked Creator/WilliamHMacy why he accepted a role in ''Jurassic Park III'', he replied "Because I'm 50 years old and I [[EverythingsBetterWithDinosaurs get to fight a dinosaur]]."
* FranchiseKiller: The negative reaction put an end to Jurassic Park films, for a while. But after 14 years in DevelopmentHell, ''Film/JurassicWorld'' was released to critical and box-office acclaim.
* HeyItsThatGuy: [[Series/SesameStreet Mr. Noodle's brother Mr. Noodle]]! [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C9tq9l1ZxX8 Nooo!]]
** Eric's actor was in an old {{Barney The Dinosaur}} film before landing a role in this movie. [[HilariousInHindsight You can laugh now.]]
* RefittedForSequel: Many scenes in the film are from the books: The river chase and aviary from the first and the cloning lab from ''The Lost World''. It's been joked that ''III'' exists mainly to use up all the bits from the books they couldn't fit into the first two movies.
* ScienceMarchesOn:
** The incorrectness of the Jurassic Park dinosaurs is {{Handwaved}} and [[JustifiedTrope Justified]] by Grant in that these dinosaurs are mutants, not real dinosaurs (thanks to having their DNA spliced by frog DNA.) One of the changes includes putting some feathers on the head of the raptors.
** Around the time this film was made, it was not yet known that pterosaurs didn't rear their young like birds.
** In 2014, a more complete skeleton of ''Spinosaurus'' [[http://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-29143096 was found]], which showed that while still a big carnivore, the ''Spinosaurus'' had an even more bizarre shape and was suggested to have been quadrupedal[[note]]or at least semi-quadrupedal, since the forelimbs seem to lack the adaptations for a fully quadrupedal movement, and some have suggested that even with the super-short hind limbs, ''Spinosaurus'' would have still been capable of [[http://theropoda.blogspot.it/2014/09/spinosaurus-revolution-episodio-iv-una.html bipedal]] [[http://hyrotrioskjan.deviantart.com/gallery/#/art/Mr-Weird-483489664?_sid=528e68f5 movement]]. More data is needed to clarify this situation.[[/note]] and adapted for an aquatic lifestyle, as its hind legs were unconventionally short and possessed webbed feet, which may have made it very difficult for it to have a fully bipedal posture. Basically making him look like an overgrown ''Dimetrodon''! This new reconstruction has not gone [[http://qilong.wordpress.com/2014/09/12/the-outlaw-spino-saurus/ without]] [[http://www.skeletaldrawing.com/home/theres-something-fishy-about-spinosaurus9112014 criticism]], although the researchers have also [[http://markwitton-com.blogspot.de/2014/09/the-spinosaurus-hindlimb-controversy.html?spref=tw responded]] to the detractors.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen:
** Dr. Malcolm was in the original script, but Jeff Goldblum had to drop out.
** A ''[[http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/3/31/Baryonyx_BW.jpg Baryonyx]]'' had ''Spinosaurus''' role in the original script. This was referenced in-movie. Billy guesses the dinosaur that attacked the plane is a ''Baryonyx'', but Grant corrects him, saying ''Baryonyx'' didn't have that impressive sail on the back.
** The ending was changed a lot; in the original script, the ''Spinosaurus'' was attacked by raptors and killed at the end; this was probably changed because in the first movie, the raptors were no match for the ''T. rex'', and having them bring down an even bigger carnivore that actually killed a ''T. rex'' earlier in the film wouldn't seem realistic. [[note]]To be fair, the ''T. rex'' only fought one raptor, having killed the second one by surprise.[[/note]] Also, the helicopter was to be attacked by ''Pteranodons''. And they also considered having the ''Spinosaurus'' attack the marines.
** One of the first scripts was about a group of teens stranded in the island and being eaten one by one. It was described as ''{{Friends}}'' with dinosaurs... and quickly dropped.
* Out of all the Jurassic Park movies, III is the favorite of Creator/SamNeill. He says that it's because this film has the most three-dimensional characters out of the franchise. It is unknown if Film/JurassicWorld changed this.
