Trivia / Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings

• Actor Allusion: Sab Shimano voices Archibald Tan, a Chinese antiques dealer who owns a shop in San Francisco.
• Troubled Production: Lucasarts originally planned the game as next-gen showcase for the then-new Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. However, the original plans for the game proved to be far too ambitious, with several of the new technologies the developers planned to incorporate simply not working together. Combined with staff being pulled off the project in order to help out with Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, this called the project to fall hopelessly behind schedule, leading it to be cancelled. However, only the 360 and PS3 were being developed in-house at Lucasarts; Reformulated versions for the Wii, Nintendo DS, PlayStation Portable had been outsourced to other developers, so Lucasarts went ahead and released them.
• What Could Have Been:
  • Had the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 versions been released, they would have looked magnificent. All that remains is the teaser trailer.
  • A novelization of the game was commissioned and penned by Bantam-era Indiana Jones novelist Bob McGregor (and would've been his return to the franchise after over a decade). However, game delays ultimately caused Del Rey to cancel the novel. McGregor finally released it in 2021 as an audiobook.
