  • Adored by the Network: Especially at the end of January 2011, when every episode was aired in a five-day marathon on Science Channel, only broke up for two hours to air An Idiot Abroad at its regular time.
  • Big Name Fan: James May of Top Gear/The Grand Tour fame has mentioned frequently on Twitter and in various interviews How It's Made as one of his favourite programmes. Though his fandom doesn't stop him from referring to it as an American series.
  • Follow the Leader: One of the most blatant examples is Factory Made, another show that basically follows the same premise and airs on the same channel. Food Network also had Unwrapped which details how various types of food and sweets are produced.
  • Technology Marches On: The "Computer And Microchips" segment is incredibly outdated, depicting a Boxy Mac with Windows '98.
