Trivia / Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories

  • Dummied Out: Helicopters are normally inaccessible to the player in this game, though NPCs use them in certain missions. In a couple of these missions, through certain exploits, you can steal one of these helicopters, which reveals that their controls have been fully implemented (as opposed to the helicopters from III, which couldn't be controlled by the player through any means without modding). The lack of rooftops on several buildings and extremely low height ceiling, note  however, make it highly unlikely that player-controlled helicopters were intended to be in the game.

  • No Port For You: Like the other minor entries in the franchise, LCS never saw a Windows port. It wasn't until Rockstar commissioned Lucid Games, a UK-based indie developer, to develop remastered conversions of the game to iOS and Android. Besides smartphone ports, at least two unofficial ports to Windows were made, one simply titled LCS PC Edition using the San Andreas engine, and another, more feature-complete version running off the Vice City engine. The latter chose Vice City as its base as the original PSP/PS2 releases share similar underpinnings with Vice City, note  and came as its own stand-alone game without requiring Vice City or any other game to run. Unfortunately, Re: LCS has been cancelled due to Take-Two Interactive's crackdown against several mods in September 2021.
  • The Other Darrin: This applies to pretty much any returning character from GTA III that isn't Salvatore Leone, 8-Ball or Mrs. Cipriani:
    • Toni Cipriani is voiced by Danny Mastrogiorgio instead of Michael Madsen.
    • Will Janowitz replaces Kyle MacLachlan as Donald Love.
    • Peter Appel takes the role of Ray Machowski from Robert Loggia.
    • Debi Mazar is replaced by Fiona Gallagher as Maria Latore.
    • Mickey Hamfists is voiced by Chris Tardio, replacing an unknown actor.
    • Phil Cassidy is voiced by an unidentified actor in his brief cameo, rather than Hunter Platin or Gary Busey.
  • Prop Recycling: The textures from the mobile version come from GTA IV as well as HD mods for GTA III. The latter results in the hidden sign Easter Egg being changed back to its original message, "You weren't supposed to be able to get here you know".
  • Role Reprise: Frank Vincent, Keith "Guru" Elam, and Sondra James come back to voice Salvatore, 8-Ball, and Mrs. Cipriani.
