Trivia / Enzo and Cass

Go To

  • Breakup Breakout: Initially, their breakup was thought to establish Cass as an upper-midcarder who can easily fit in the main event slot, while Enzo would be the Janetty, but after Cass received a knee injury that sidelined him for months, Enzo got transferred to 205 Live, bringing more mainstream attention to it and elevating both himself and the show. Until Enzo got fired in January 2018 that is.
  • Contractual Purity: Enzo Amore's release was the result of WWE's "morality clause" which stipulated that the contracted performer report all police-related activity within a certain time frame. While the rape accusations and subsequent police investigation were bad, had he informed the company of them after he first learned of it (which was presumably around October 2017), the most they would've likely done is suspend him indefinitely until it went to trial and it was determined whether or not he was innocent, at which point they would've either lifted the suspension or fired him, as what happened with Rich Swann.note  However, Enzo failed to inform the front office about it (most likely because the investigation started around the beginning of his reign as Cruiserweight Champion), and months later the woman he allegedly raped posted about it on Twitter on the same day as the twenty-fifth anniversary episode of Raw, blindsiding them and forcing them to do damage control. Needless to say, they fired him in return for all the trouble he caused them. Though in fairness to Enzo, he couldn't inform WWE about it due to finding out at the same time that WWE did, making WWE look rather dickish for firing him so quickly.
  • Dye Hard: Enzo started bleaching his hair in tribute to Dusty Rhodes when he passed away.
  • Romance on the Set:
    • Cass dated Carmella in Real Life (ironic if you remember her character's introduction, which saw Enzo constantly - and unsuccessfully - trying to flirt with Carmella while Cass basically rolled his eyes in the background).
    • Enzo Amore was romantically linked to Liv Morgan, though after internet reports of Enzo being spotted in a strip club being an asshole, Liv confirmed that she became single.
  • Role-Ending Misdemeanor: Both Enzo and Cass were thrown out of WWE because of this:
    • Enzo was released from WWE after rape allegations were made against him. Though, as stated in Contractual Purity above, it wasn't the allegations themselves so much as the fact that he failed to inform the company about them for three months, though again, Enzo found out when WWE did, making informing WWE an Impossible Task. He later clarified that during a talk with the office, he made a careless remark that WWE needs him more than he needs them, leading to the termination of his contract.
    • Months later, Cass was also released due to a series of incidents he instigated, such as being publicly intoxicated during a tour, defending President Donald Trump's politics towards Muslims to Sami Zayn, a man of Syrian descent, and unwanted advances towards his ex-girlfriend Carmella.
  • What Could Have Been: Carmella's time with them was meant to be much shorter - hence why she came in as a heel. She was going to split from them and get called up to the main roster - as a Butt-Monkey figure. For whatever reasons, this plan was abandoned and she remained on NXT.
