- Breakaway Pop Hit:
- Their breakthrough album was their soundtrack to the film That's the Way of the World (starring Harvey Keitel, with EWF appearing as a group called The Group), with the title track and "Shining Star" now much better remembered than the film.
- While the Jukebox Musical Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band was a flop and the accompanying album didn't do much better, their cover of "Got to Get You Into My Life" was a Gold-selling top ten hit considered by some to be better than the original.
- Colbert Bump: Billy & Mandy's Big Boogey Adventure acted as this for "Boogie Wonderland" in recent times. The song is now considered a Signature Song for EWF partly thanks to the movie.
- Word of God: Allee Willis, who wrote the lyrics to "September", admitted in an interview that there's no particular significance to "the 21st night of September" outside of it fitting the song's meter well."We went through all the dates. 'Do you remember the first, the second, the third, the fourth ... ' and the one that just felt the best was the 21st."
