** Duke was originally intended to be able to use a space suit (those which you can see throughout the level ''Dark Side'', the penultimate level of ''Lunar Apocalypse'' episode). This was meant to protect him later in the level where you actually have to go outside to the surface of the Moon. Not wearing a space suit would have resulted in an instant death after exiting the decompression chamber. It's unclear as to why they dropped the idea for the final release, but Duke being the MemeticBadass as he is, lack of oxygen and no atmosphere to protect him from the Sun's radiation is pretty much [[BatmancanbreatheINSPACE a normal day]] for him.

Unfortunately, it doesn't include the third-party expansion packs that the ''Megaton Edition'' had. The only digital storefront to still sell the original Atomic Edition and most of the expansion packs is ZOOM Platform.

* TooSoon: Averted at least once. According to WordOfGod, a ShoutOut section to Oklahoma City bombing (which happened about a year before the release of the game) [[https://web.archive.org/web/20160215170502/http://www.pcgamesn.com/duke-nukem-3d/the-making-of-duke-nukem-3d/page/0/1 was made but deleted]] shortly before the game came out.
