!!Trivia-tropes:
* ActorAllusion:
** Creators/KathSoucie has graduated from being [[WesternAnimation/TheRealGhostbusters ghost hunters' support staff and reserve member]] to a full-fledged ghost hunter.
** Also, in "Teacher of the Year", Danny uses his powers to enter cyberspace, much like [[WesternAnimation/{{Freakazoid}} another high schooler]] Creator/DavidKaufman [[WesternAnimation/{{Freakazoid}} has voiced that acquired superpowers through a "freak" accident]].
** Creators/TaraStrong voices Ember, a siren-like ghost with the ability to hypnotize people with her voice. If this sounds familiar, well, it should, seeing as [[WesternAnimation/SamuraiJack Tara's voiced a siren before]].
** David Kaufman has been promoted from [[WesternAnimation/SupermanTheAnimatedSeries superhero sidekick and fanboy]] to superhero in his own right.
* ApprovalOfGod: When Jello Apocalypse made [[Webanimation/SoThisIsBasically So This Is Basically]] [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yO95ZRrMSxw Danny Phantom,]] not only did Butch approve of it, but he also voiced the "Rebreather" ghost used for a depiction of the average fight scene in the show.
* ExecutiveMeddling:
** Firing Steve Marmel was seen as the nail in the coffin for many fans.
** A positive example: it was the higher ups who suggested that Hartman give Danny a logo.
* FanNickname:
** '''College Trio:''' Collective name to refer to Vlad, Jack, and Maddie.
** '''CW:''' Because sometimes "Clockwork" is just too long to bother with.
** '''GW:''' Because sometimes "Ghost Writer" is just too long to bother with. (And his initials are written on the pediment of his mansion.)
** '''Frightmare:''' Nocturne's temporary name prior to the episode "Frightmare" airing.
** '''Señor Seximus:''' Nickname used by English-speaking fans for Vlad in the Spanish language version of the show.
** '''Dan Phantom:''' A name commonly used for Danny's evil alternate-future self. Only originated in the video game adaptation.
** '''Dark Danny:''' Another name used for Danny's evil alternate future-self. Shown during the episode's credits.
** '''Dan Plasmius''': Also Dark Danny.
** '''Jack Plasmius:''' Halfa Jack in "Masters Of All Time".
** '''Master of Longwinded Introductions:''' Technus.
* FlipFlopOfGod:
** So [[CallASmeerpARabbit "ghosts" are really just monsters from another dimension who happen to use ectoplasm]]? Okay, but what about the countless references to ghosts being dead or previously being alive? Or, say, the Dairy King.
** A good example of this particular flipflop is Dora the Dragon Ghost, who is heavily implied to have once lived in her first initial appearance, but doesn't seem to have ever lived as a human in her second appearance.
** Another example of a flipflop is Ember [=McLain=]. Her actions, language and attitude suggest she's a teenager with a desire to rebel against adults, which might be the reason she was getting constant shipping with Danny from fans. However, the idea of them having this kind of "[[DatingCatwoman relationship]]" didn't occur when admins on Hartman's forums stated she was much older, around her early 20's... which technically makes her an adult. Suddenly she's Skulker's girlfriend... and Skulker himself is an adult.

* LyingCreator: Creator/ButchHartman has said the ghosts are not meant to be spirits of the dead, despite many of the ghosts in the show are shown to once have been alive (Pointdexter, Desiree, the Dairy King, the Lunch Lady, Ember). See FlipFlopOfGod.
* MutuallyFictional: In ''Danny Phantom'', Danny can be see playing a ''Crash Nebula'' arcade game. In the ''Crash Nebula'' PoorlyDisguisedPilot episode of WesternAnimation/TheFairlyOddParents, Crash has a ''Danny Phantom'' comic book.
* NamesTheSame:
** In Germany, Danny is voiced by [[http://www.synchronkartei.de/?action=show&type=talker&id=1211 Daniel Schlauch]].
** A PartTimeHero named [[WesternAnimation/DuckTales Fenton]]. Also, Tucker shares the same last name with Richie Foley from ''WesternAnimation/StaticShock'' who is also a nerdish technologically obsessed side kick who does scheduling for the protagonist.
* RealLifeRelative: Johnny 13 and Kitty's voice actors (William Baldwin and Chynna Phillips) are married.
* TheOtherDarrin:
** The Lunch Lady is voiced by [[Series/EverybodyLovesRaymond Patricia Heaton]] in the pilot episode, and Creator/KathSoucie in her later appearances.
** [[Series/SixFeetUnder Michael St. Patrick]] voiced Skulker in three episodes, before being replaced by Creator/KevinMichaelRichardson.
*** Speaking of Kevin Michael Richardson, he was the original voice for Dora in her dragon form before they switched to [[WesternAnimation/TheFairlyOddparents Susanne Blakeslee]] who also replaced Creator/GreyDelisle as her non-dragon voice.
** While on the subject of Grey [=DeLisle=], she started off as the original voices for Valerie & Star before being replaced by Creator/CreeSummer and Creator/TaraStrong respectively.
** Also, Dani's voice actress switches from Creator/AnnaSophiaRobb in "Kindred Spirits" to Krista Swan in "D-Stabilized".
** Most of the voice actors in the Russian dub, except for Danny, Sam & Tucker, have been changed in season 3.
* OutOfOrder:
** "The Fenton Menace" and "Identity Crisis" aired after "The Ultimate Enemy" but were set beforehand.
** Despite being set afterwards, "Double Cross My Heart" and "Kindred Spirts" aired before "Reality Trip".
** In addition, "Urban Jungle" was the first episode of the third season to premiere, even though it was number six. The Season 3 premiere didn't even air in the U.S until after the following seven. Honestly, Nick didn't handle new episodes very well.
** The DVD sets place the episodes in production order. This isn't really a problem for Seasons 1 & 3 (in the latter's case, it even puts "Urban Jungle" in it's intended spot), but it is for Season 2 as certain episodes that took place earlier that season were produced later such as "Memory Blanked" which was the season premiere (and the episode where Danny gets his logo) but the sixth episode produced that season.
* PlayingAgainstType:
** Creator/RonPerlman as Mr. Lancer, who is not a villain and/or a badass.
** Creator/JamesArnoldTaylor as Walker.
** James Garrett tends to play a wise old man who acts as an ally, but here he's the villain Nocturne.
** Martin Mull as Vlad Masters/Plasmius, he's a villain who, while still capable of humor, is mainly taken seriously.
** [[Series/TwoAndAHalfMen Jon Cryer]] as Freakshow.
* ScrewedByTheNetwork: Was it ever.
** Although hints of Dani's personality exist and she was to play a bigger role than just two episodes, it was largely ignored in favor of series regulars.
* SendingStuffToSaveTheShow:
** Five rallies from DP Fans have been held for three years in various official Nickelodeon/Viacom areas to get the show back for another season. No dice.
** There was a lot of "Save Danny Phantom" fanart people drew and sent in to the studios!
* StarMakingRole: While David Kaufman has had a pretty decent list of roles before Danny Phantom, such as [[WesternAnimation/SupermanTheAnimatedSeries Jimmy Olsen]] and [[WesternAnimation/{{Freakazoid}} Dexter Douglas]], chances are most people will know him for his role as Danny.
* TalkingToHimself: Several members of the cast play various roles throughout the episodes as well as their own main character roles.
* TropeNamer: FakeOutMakeOut
* TrollingCreator: Butch keeps constantly hinting his attempts to possibly revive Danny Phantom, with fans groaning or squeeing each time he hints at it but never does anything for it.
* UnintentionalPeriodPiece: Dated to the early-to-mid 2000's by the fashion and technology. Notably, Tucker uses a [=PDA=] which smartphones have long since replaced.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen:
** Danny was supposed to be a teenaged Ghostbuster on a motorcycle with a pet owl and a psychic link to Sam. Then the idea was tweaked into what it is now.
** Butch Hartman originally wanted Danny to be voiced by an actual 14-year-old but couldn't find anybody who sounded "heroic" enough.
** This could apply to the entire third season, as Steve Marmel allegedly wanted to get DarkerAndEdgier, following along the lines of "The Ultimate Enemy". There was even a fan project on imagining what it would be like, only it never got off the ground because they couldn't get details from Mr. Marmel. Marmel won't comment on what Season 3 was going to be about or why he was let go, mostly out of respect for his former partner Hartman.
** According to WordOfGod, Danielle was meant to be revealed to the Fenton family and become Danny's little sister. Yet another plotline that was abandoned when the series was abruptly canceled.
** The series was originally meant to end with a final battle between Danny and Dark Danny. One could argue it would have made a greater series finale than Phantom Planet.
** Sam and Danny were originally meant to [[MindLinkMates share a psychic connection]] before Butch Hartman decided against it, saying only Danny should have the special powers.
** According to writer Steve Marmel, an original RunningGag would be that Vlad's manor would blow up every time.
** The show had a vastly different intro, being sung rather than rapped. The rhythm was the same but the lyrics were not.
* TheWikiRule: Has a wiki [[http://dannyphantom.wikia.com/wiki/Danny_Phantom_Wiki here]].

!!Random bits:
* The name "Vlad Plasmius" was claimed by Marmel to be written on a brick he bought.
* Tucker Foley was named after Chris Tucker and Creator/EddieMurphy's character Axel Foley from ''Beverly Hill Cops''. Jazz was named after a character from the ''Next Men'' series. Vlad is derived from Vlad Dracula III, the original inspiration for {{Dracula}}.
* For that matter, Vlad was originally intended to be a vampire, hence why his ghostly form heavily resembles one.
*** Also, hence the name "Plasmius"--from "plasma," or blood.
* Danny Phantom's eyebrows were at one time (in production) white like his hair, but they were changed back to black--they made him look too old.
* Look at Sam's room right after the theme song in "Control Freaks." Sam has a (musical) keyboard lying on her floor. Perhaps she plays!
** Also, there's a red version of Ember's guitar in Jazz's room in "Fanning the Flames".
* In a first season episode, where Tucker is editing his grades, the only ones he has A's in are Computers and ...Sewing.
* According to one of the admins on Butch Hartman's forums (before the site eventually ended), Hartman stated not everyone can become a half ghost the same way Danny and Vlad did. Meaning if it were Sam or Tucker who entered the portal, it would have more likely killed them than turn them half ghost.
* The show's/Danny's constantly noted resemblance to Spider-man is hardly surprising once you learn one of the writers, Marty Isenberg, wrote 6 episodes of ''WesternAnimation/SpidermanTheAnimatedSeries''.
