  • Alan Smithee: In the English dub, everyone besides Monica Rial (Mina) used pseudonyms.
  • Banned in China: For excessive sexual content and violence.
  • Children Voicing Children: The Latin American Spanish dub has Yuzuru voiced by Emilio Treviño, who was also a child at the time.
  • Creator Backlash: Due to the heavy pedophilic overtones in the anime, Funimation refused to dub the anime until fan pressure forced them to cave, and even then the English cast, with the exception of Monica Rial, asked that they would be given pseudonyms in order to distance themselves from the project.
  • Directed by Cast Member:
    • The English dub was directed by Ryohei's actor Ian Sinclair.
    • The Latin American Spanish dub was directed by Eduardo Garza, who also voiced Akira.
  • No Export for You: The anime won't be released in China due to its graphic violence and sexual content.
  • Real-Life Relative: In the Latin American Spanish dub, Susana Moreno (Mina's VA) is the niece of Eduardo Garza, who is Akira's VA.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • Studio Shaft was more than willing to do a faithful adaptation of the manga until Nozomu Tamaki told them to do it in their own way. Needless to say, a lot of manga fans were somewhat displeased, although some found it a pretty good adaptation nonetheless.
    • Nozomu Tamaki had intended to keep the series going another couple years to give a full ending to it. Sadly a decline in its popularity meant the sequel series Scarlett Order had a rushed ending after only four volumes. Averted for now when the series returns yet again in 2018, after a convenient in-story Timeskip.
