Trivia / COMMUNICATIONS

Go To

  • Cancellation: COMMUNICATIONS was cancelled in July 2017, after a 7-month Series Hiatus. While GHOST initially planned to reboot it, as of 2019, all plans related to the series have been dropped.
  • Creator Backlash: GHOST has gone on to say that they aren't proud of the work they did on COMMUNICATIONS, and even regards it as their "biggest failure". As such, they've taken down most public info related to it outside of the songs themselves, and they've kept much of the story details unpublished after cancelling the series, largely due to it being unfinished and unpolished. They would later go on to explain several further issues that complicated COMMUNICATIONS, the main reasons cited as the story being poorly planned, and that they believe COMMUNICATIONS' portrayal of trauma, abuse and mental illness were inaccurate, if not insensitive or even harmful.
  • Trolling Creator: When jelf the elf was first uploaded, it was titled COLORBARS and showed Kennith in the thumbnail to mislead fans into thinking that it was the remastered version of that song.
  • What Could Have Been:
zoey may: Ghost, is Kennith's girl childhood friend (can't remember her name :p) still canon? And does she still have a crush on Kennith? (Just wondering cuz she seemed interesting)
GHOST: so steph is still a part of the series, but they met their freshman year of high school so i guess they're not really childhood? the crush thing isn't really canon anymore though because it's kinda irrelevant and boring LMAO
    • BROADCAST ILLUSION was originally going to be a remastered version of COLORBARS. This was scrapped when GHOST was unable to get the remaster to sound right, so they decided to make a new song altogether.
    • Early on in the development of COMMUNICATIONS, ROTARY DIAL wasn't going to be apart of the series at all; it was going to be about a woman eavesdropping on and disrupting conversations on her street's party line, telling people she was excited to see them all die one day. GHOST decided against this when they decided there should be more to the series than just a few songs.
    • Case Three was originally going to take place in 2002. This was changed to 2009, then finally 2012.
    • Much about Case Three's characters were changed:
      • Bri was originally going to be a nonbinary girl instead of just agender and was (usually) referred to with she/her pronouns instead of they/them.
      • Avery was going to have a very minor role - her relationship with Bri would've been portrayed as shallow and she was going to be the one responsible for leaking the unedited photos of Bri instead of Simon, although it would've been without malice on her part.
      • There was going to be No Antagonist and Simon wasn't in the picture at all.
      • Bri's surname was going to be Rhodes instead of Rodez. It was changed to Rodez to reflect the fact they're Hispanic.
