Trivia / Code MENT

Go To

  • Accidentally-Correct Writing: As it happens, there are actually various stores called "Soup" that sells clothes.
  • Colbert Bump: The number of viewers jumped by quite a bit after Takahata101 and LittleKuriboh (separately) recommended it. They also jumped quite a lot after people started making animations of the "I'm at soup" bit.
    • On the other hand, the YouTube videos of any music used in a Code MENT episode tend to see a spike in traffic after the episode is released, with many commentators quoting lines from the series.
  • Creator Breakdown: The description of Episode 17 heavily implies that PurpleEyes put the series on a hiatus because of real-life trouble, including the loss of his sister and her soon-to-be-born child at the same time, and he didn't have the energy in him to be funny.
  • Deleted Scene: The AnimeNEXT 2011 "The Abridged Series" Panel version of Episode 12 had a different take for the scene where Suzaku pours the water bottle on his head (that was contaminated with urine). In the episode proper, after Lloyd warns Suzaku, Suzaku yells "don't tell me what to do!" before pouring it on his head. In the Panel version, Suzaku and Lloyd just stare at each other for an extended period of time... before Suzaku wordlessly pours it on his head.
  • Inspiration for the Work: In an interview with Insider, PurpleEyes divulged that the inspiration for the now-famous "I'm at Soup" scene was born out of a phone conversation with a friend he hadn't seen in a while.
  • Schedule Slip: Mainly due to being put on Series Hiatus, but the gap between Episodes 16 and 17 of Code MENT was nearly 9 years.
  • What Could Have Been: If PurpleEyes had continued abridging, he's claimed some time ago that Episode 19 of this series would've been where everything he was trying to accomplish would've been made clear. Though with his return to the scene, it is now likely to pass.
  • Word of God: PurpleEyes makes it known that C.C. is intentionally unnamed in the series, to the point where he implicitly insists that the green-haired witch's name is not C.C. here.
