  • Actor Allusion: In the second episode, Jessica reads a Bland-Name version of Harry Potter to her son. Fiona Shaw, who plays Marla Painter, portrayed Harry's despicable aunt Petunia Dursley in the films.
  • Actor-Inspired Element: Many aspects of Joseph Peach's character, such as his interest in birds and his affection for Smart-Mouth, were directly inspired by his actor, Rutger Hauer.
    • A few of Pretzel Jack’s more random moments were improvised by his actor, Troy James.
  • Defictionalization: While they're mostly just in-show segments, this is most likely the closest thing people will get to a "real" Candle Cove series.
  • Dawson Casting: In the second season, the teenagers are played by adult actors. Amy Foryth, Aisha Dee, Jeff Ward, Kyla Kane and Seamus Patterson are all in their early 20s.
  • Never Work with Children or Animals: According to the director of ''The Dream Door'', the hardest visual effect on the show was getting the cat to step out of the small door on set for what amounts to a very short scene.
  • Playing Their Own Twin: Luca Villacis plays both Eddie and Mike Painter.
  • What Could Have Been: According to Word of God, in the first draft of No-End House, Margot's father was a controlling and manipulative plastic surgeon, and, as a result, her cannibal copy of her father was far less sympathetic and complex than the character in the final draft. Whenever Margot was disappointing him, the cannibal would remove her face and put it on someone else. This was abandoned in favour of making The Father a more complex character.
    • Season 2 was originally planned to end with Margot and Jules remaining trapped in the No-End House, with their ultimate fates being left unknown.
    • A planned ending of The Dream Door, would have had Pretzel Jack helping raise Tom and Jillian’s baby daughter.
    • Before the show was cancelled, show runner Nick Antosca expressed interest in adapting “The Russian Sleep Experiment”, “The Left Right Game” and “This Man”. Interestingly, "The Left Right Game" was announced for a live-action adaptation from Amazon Studios in 2020.
    • According to Word of God there were plans to possibly bring back the Tooth Child in a future season.
  • You Look Familiar:
    • Abigail Pniowsky plays Lily Painter in Candle Cove and a young Margot Sleator in No-End House.
    • Brandon Scott plays Luke Vanczyk in Butcher's Block and Tom Hodgson in The Dream Door.
    • Actor Brandon Sawatzky has played a minor speaking role in every season thus far.
