- Executive Meddling: Some fans have accused MTV for making Catfish scripted in later seasons
- Odd Friendship: Artis and Justin from Season 2 became friends, considering the fact that Justin catfished Artis, and wanted to kick his ass in the reveal.
- Troubled Production: Production of the second half of the seventh season was halted when misconduct claims were made.
