Trivia / Bloody Roar

  • Fan Nickname: Crowanthropes for Reiji's human-sized Crow transformation.
  • Franchise Killer: Bloody Roar 4.
  • The Other Darrin: It's incredibly rare for a character to be consistently voiced by the same person between two games, moreso for one to keep voicing a character for three games (only five characters have had the same voice for three games in a row), and especially so in the English-dubbed versions (only Yugo and Alice kept the same voices between the first and second games). Interestingly, a pair of the English voice actors from the first game came back for 3, but voicing different characters - Barry Gjerde went from Gado to Yugo, and Samantha Vega, appropriately enough, went from Fox to his Suspiciously Similar Substitute Jenny. Primal Fury/Extreme is a particularly odd case, as even the characters who still spoke English in the Japanese version got different voices in the actual English release, with Jenny and Shina/Marvel having the distinction of having three different English-speaking actresses between 3, the Japanese Extreme, and its English version Primal Fury.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • In Bloody Roar: The Fang, Mashiro was originally going to be more intelligent than Fang and would have wore glasses and have a more stern demeanor. Her current characterization is the result of Shonen Jump wanting her to appeal to a wider demographic.
    • There were rumors on about a revival to the franchise long after Bloody Roar 4, and it has even been hoaxed at one point. There were also rumors circulating on how Sony may revive the Bloody Roar franchise (similar to how Microsoft did with Killer Instinct), but so far those have been shot down, as the expected announcement turned out to be that Street Fighter V would be a PS4 exclusive on consoles.
    • The gallery available in the first game includes concept art for characters that didn't make the cut, including a Native American whose beast form was apparently going to be a bull.
