Trivia / Berserk: The Golden Age Arc

Go To

  • Celebrity Voice Actor:
    • In the Japanese version, Guts is voiced by Hiroaki Iwanaga, who was already known for his work as a model as well as acting in popular toku shows.
    • The English dub features Jesse Corti (who is best known as the voice of Lefou in Beauty and the Beast) as Julius.
  • Children Voicing Children: In the English dub, the younger Guts and Adonis are both played by an actual young boy (in this case, Colin DePaula).
  • The Other Darrin:
    • The original Japanese version replaced the voice cast from the 1997-98 TV anime:
    • Because of the fact that nearly a decade had passed since the original English dub was recorded and many of the original VAs had left the business, some of the secondary roles needed to be recast:
      • Pippin and Hail - Jeff Ward was replaced by Patrick Seitz and Jamison Boaz respectively.
      • Corkus - Mark Sebastian was replaced by Doug Erholtz
      • The King of Midland - Jeff Swarthout was replaced by Christopher Corey Smith
      • Charlotte - They got Rachael Lillis back for Movie 1 but apparently not for 2 or 3; G.K. Bowes replaced her.
      • Julius - Dick Bunting was replaced by Jesse Corti
      • Gambino - Robert Krakovski was replaced by Dave B. Mitchell
      • Young Guts - Maria Dente was replaced by Colin DePaula (interestingly, Dente is still credited under additional voices)
      • Young Griffith - Veronica Taylor was replaced by Barbara Goodson
      • Slan - Suzanne Gilad was replaced by Cindy Robinson
      • Ubik and Carnefice - Greg Miller was replaced by Liam O'Brien in both roles.
      • Laban - Sean Elias-Reyes was replaced by Marc Thompson
      • Anna - Tara Sands was replaced with Lisa Ortiz
      • Hassan and Riguel - Richard Springle and Bradford Scobie were replaced with Michael Sorich in both parts.
      • Adonis - Kathryn Kapinski was replaced with Colin DePaula
      • Bazuso - Patrick Tansor was replaced with Dave B. Mitchell
      • Gennon - Fred Velde was replaced with Steve Kramer
      • Boscogn - Richard Springle was replaced with T.J. Storm
      • Gien and Dante - Michael Sinterniklaas was replaced with Sean Schemmel in both roles.
      • Errol - Sean Schemmel was replaced with Patrick Seitz
  • Role Reprise: Returning from the English dub of the TV series are Marc Diraison as Guts, Carrie Keranen as Casca, Kevin T. Collins as Griffith, Christopher Kromer as Judeau, Michelle Newman as Rickert, Sean Schemmel as Gaston, and Conrad, Jon Avner as Void and Mike Pollock as Adon Coborlwitz.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • The trilogy was supposed to be followed by more movies that would continue the story past the Golden Age Arc (Eiko Tanaka expressed interest in doing Lost Children next), but apparently, these plans were shelved. There were also some scenes that they weren't able to execute in the way they had hoped, such as Guts' fight with Boscogn where they'd wanted to show Zodd throwing Guts his sword, but had to settle for Guts distracting Boscogn using a banner.
    • There were plans to add Wyald and the Black Dog Knights into the story, and possibly the Bakiraka, but they were cut due to budget concerns.
