Trivia: Benson

  • Fake Nationality: Kraus is German. Inga Swenson, the actress who plays her, is not.
  • Hey, It's That Guy!: Minor Season 2 character, Frankie the courier - played by a young Jerry Seinfeld.
    • Also, Clayton Endicott III is played by the same actor who portrayed Odo in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Paul Lewiston in Boston Legal.
    • Marcy's husband is played by Ted Danson.
    • Didi Conn (Denise Stevens) previously played Frenchie in Grease and Grease2. Amusingly, her Grease co-star, Dinah Manoff (Marty), had a recurring role on Soap as Danny Dallas's girlfriend, Elaine Lefkowitz, and would later play Carol Weston on Empty Nest, which, like Soap and Benson, was created by Susan Harris, and starred former Soap regular Richard Mulligan.
    • Tony Mordente directed five episodes. Mordente is best known for playing A-rab in West Side Story.
    • Bob Fraser and Rob Dames wrote 34 episodes, and Dames directed 11 episodes, while Fraser directed three episodes. Both are best known as creators and executive producers of Wipeout1988.
    • Barry Fanaro and Mort Nathan wrote 11 episodes. Both are best known as creators and executive producers of The Secret Diary Of Desmond Pfeiffer.
    • Winifred Hervey wrote nine episodes. Hervey is best known as creator and executive producer of The Steve Harvey Show.
    • David Langston Smyrl wrote two episodes. Smyrl is best known for playing Mr. Handford on Sesame Street from 1990 to 1998. Amusingly, in 1974, Robert Guillaume was being considered to play Gordon on Sesame Street, but was ultimately passed over in favor of Roscoe Orman.
    • Stu Silver wrote an episode. Silver is best known as creator and executive producer of Webster, which, coincidentally, co-starred former Soap regulars Cathryn Damon and Eugene Roche.
    • Michael J. Weithorn also wrote an episode. Weithorn is best known as creator and executive producer of Ned And Stacey and co-creator and executive producer of The King of Queens.
    • Hey, It's That Voice!: Benson is Rafiki in The Lion King, while Clayton is Chef Louis in The Little Mermaid.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: Only seasons 1 and 2 have been released on DVD so far, despite every season of its parent program Soap being readily available on DVD and on Netflix, and the show rarely plays in reruns anywhere (though it began airing in the U.S. on Antenna TV in 2012). However, given the series' DVD rights are now owned by Mill Creek, the possibility of future seasons finally being released may finally occur.
