  • Actor Allusion:
    • "The Mark of Kane" teams up Gigi, Eliza Doolittle and Rima the Jungle Girl, who were all played by Audrey Hepburn (Gigi on Broadway, the others on film). Gigi notices the three of them have a similar appearance.
    • Eliza runs into her husband, Freddie, and other characters remark on his uncanny resemblance to Sherlock Holmes, because in the film adaptation of My Fair Lady, Freddie was played by Jeremy Brett.
    • The depiction of Eliza also alludes to the career of Julie Andrews (who originated that role on Broadway), with several nods to Andrews' character in Victor/Victoria.
    • Eliza's two assumed identities - Kathleen Ruston and Edda van Heemstra - are references not to any Hepburn character but to the actress herself; her birth name was Audrey or Edda Kathleen Ruston and van Heemstra was her mother's maiden name, which she used in the Nazi-occupied Netherlands because an English name would attract suspicion.
