  • Acting for Two: Due to the large number of characters in the play, most of the cast is required to double or triple up on parts. According to the stage notes, only the actors playing LBJ and Martin Luther King are exempt from this.
  • Actor Allusion: LBJ starts his final monologue with the phrase "You're goddamn right."
  • Dueling Works: With LBJ a Rob Reiner 2016 film with Woody Harrelson in the titular role. The other movie focuses more on Johnson's vice-presidency and his fraught relationship with Robert F. Kennedy, while downplaying the less pleasant aspects of his personality. Senator Russel is also depicted more as an outright villain and an open racist.
