* HammyVillainSeriousHero: Inverted with Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr. Hamilton is a passionate LargeHam who gives his all at anything he tries and never backs down, while Burr is a reserved DeadpanSnarker who prefers to remain quiet and wait for his opportunity to advance in life without risk.

** Madison cries when [[spoiler:Philip dies]] and Jefferson expresses [[SympathyForTheHero sympathy]] by saying "Poor Hamilton". They attack him on other fronts, but they are not going to kick down a man [[spoiler:who has lost his son]]. A little history reveals that, by this point, Jefferson had already lost five children, so he knew the pain of losing a child more than anyone else.

** Hercules Mulligan was actually fifteen years older than Alexander; while the show doesn't specify an age, he's played as being a peer around the same age as him, Laurens, and Lafayette.

** Hercules Mulligan was actually fifteen years older than Alexander; while the show doesn't specify an age, he's played as being a peer around the same age as him, Laurens, and Lafayette.[[note]] The age difference is indirectly referenced in "My Shot" when Mulligan says, "I got y'all knuckleheads in loco parentis", acting in the role of a parent.[[/note]]

General clarification on works content

** Actually, it would be more accurate to say ''Hamilton'' uses color-''conscious'' casting--it is intentionally required that the principals be played by people of color. Reviewers and fans have say that this is meant to be symbolical and one signifies patriotism than "Good People = Person, Bad People = White Person"; BigBad Aaron Burr is played by the African-American Creator/LeslieOdomJr in the Original Broadway Cast after all. Rather, when the character, specifically the central characters, are played by a person of color, it signifies their patriotism or support of America, while those unpatriotic and/or stand against America are played by Caucasian actors, such as Samuel Seabury and King George.

** Also from "Dear Theodosia" the line "someday you'll blow us all away" is later the title and chorus of the song where [[spoiler: Philip is shot (blown away) in a duel.]] And though it is not mentioned in the show there is an ironic meaning for Burr as well since [[spoiler: his daughter, Theodosia, died when her ship was lost at sea, most likely in a storm.]]

Misuse. This is not a repeated action, it happens only once and Hamilton's reasons for not liking being called "son" is rooted in his Dark And Troubled Past.

* BerserkButton: Hamilton, otherwise worshipful of Washington, takes exception to being called "son".
--> '''Hamilton:''' Call me son ONE MORE TIME!

* EmasculatedCuckold: A [[GenderInvertedTrope Rare Gender Inversion]] and PlayedForDrama. After Hamilton publicly admits to cheating on his wife Eliza by publishing the Reynolds Pamphlet, the latter becomes a target of immense ridicule. The humiliation and betrayal causes her to get so angry that she burns all of Alexander's love letters to her.
