Can we remove the examples under the touhou subsection?

As an experienced player (i.e. I've 1cc'ed all the windows games on Lunatic), I have to say that most of the examples are silly at best and at worst it seems that this section is on its way to listing every single boss in the series as That One Boss.

Some that I take issues with, for example:

  1. If you want a challenge, try fighting Flandre Scarlet... Flandre has one ability that makes her go invisible, you cannot hit her while a barrage of bullets attack you until the time on that ability runs out. Having the ability to hit the enemy in a fight is a big difference than fighting an enemy that stands to the side, hides, and watches you squirm in outlasting it's attack.

Survival cards are pretty standard and by no means is And Then There Will Be None? an especially hard attack in Eo SD. Remember, if it's a survival card, it's usually either the same pattern over and over again (i.e. Resurrection Butterfly, Native Myth vs. Central Myth), or 95% memorization (And Then There Will Be None?, Kokkuri-san's Contract, Border of Humans and Youkai, Posessed by Phoenix, etc...)

Moreover, Extra stages are, by definition, an Extra Boss, and therefore supposed to be hard (despite this, most are easier than the main game on Hard, and all are easier than the main game on Lunatic)

  1. The last Touhou game for the PC-98, Mystic Square, has few notable bosses. Alice attacks you in stage 3, and again in the Extra stage, but she is far more dangerous and annoying. Mai and Yuki from stage four and Yumeko from stage 5 also have some tricky attacks that can stop an unskilled player cold, especially on higher levels.

So let's see here, we've listed the bosses in stages 3, 4 and Extra as being That One Especially Difficult boss. Bzuh?

  1. Aside from Flandre, Patchouli in stage 4 and Sakuya in stage 5 of Eo SD are pretty dangerous too, because their attacks are mostly random danmaku. Of course, they pale in comparison to Remilia, who could give any Touhou final boss a run for their money!

It appears that's not good enough, and we need to do better. Let's list anything past stage 3 as being so stupidly difficult that it is actually more difficult than anything else in the game by a wide margin...oh wait.

  1. Imperishable Night's boss of stage 4 changes depending on what character/team you're using, but it doesn't matter too much—both Marisa and Reimu have dangerous random non-spell attacks and irritable spell cards.

I'm actually rather bemused that you find Marisa/Reimu harder than both Eirin and Kaguya, but still, what is so special about them? You claim that there exist dangerous random non-spell attacks (WRONG at least in the case of Marisa, in fact, all but her third are completely deterministic and her third is more or less trivial) and irritable spellcards, but you fail to specify which.

So I'm going to remove a couple of the more egregious points now, and if nobody complains within a time period of 2 weeks, the entire section. Remember guys, this trope is for a boss which is extremely difficult and comes out of nowhere in the game, and for which you'd save up most of your lives/bombs for. It is not for listing all of the difficult bosses in a shooting game, as this trope would soon be hundreds of pages long if you attempted to do that.

Finally, a couple gameplay tips: - It is possible to trick out Youmu's stage 5mesh. For the first wave, sit in the top right corner, wait for it to activate, then macrododge it. If you're using Marisa, you can do this for every wave, just dodge the first and go back near the top, and macrododge the second wave again. Rinse, repeat until dead. - Aya in Po FV is trivial. Trivial trivial trivial. Remember that all of her attacks are aimed at you, so you can just stream them. Her one difficult attack, i.e. her boss random spam, can easily be taken out with a single L2.

Kalle: As much as I agree with you trimming the examples down a bit, I don't think the whole section should be taken out. While you may be experienced enough to have been able to 1cc everything, not many people who get into the games are going to have that level of know-how right off the bat. If you have to take out the Extra stage girls, fine, but can we at least keep some of the more commonly cited examples of extremely difficult bosses? ( I know many expert players have had serious trouble with Orin's stage when they first got to it, which is why I initially added her. )

Mirrinus: That One Boss is a very subjective trope. There are plenty of examples listed on these pages that I found to be pretty easy bosses, but I understand that many people still have difficulty with it. Most examples also aren't about bosses who "come out of nowhere" (that'd be more like Giant Space Flea From Nowhere), so the only real criteria we have to judge them by is difficulty, which still varies too much from person to person. While I agree that the Touhou section could be shortened, to apply such a harsh standard to every game would probably cut this whole trope by 95%.
