  • The introduction of Denali the Mastodon. After they enter a book on the ice age, Gumby and his friends are attacked by a Mammoth, likely protecting its young. However, the mammoth misses them and falls to its death, into a dark chasm. Immediately afterwards, we meet Denali, who is in tears because his father was killed by hunters, and the mammoth that attacked Gumby was his mother. Conveniently an Orphan, but showing viewers his last remaining parental figure tumbling into a void, never to be seen again? A bit much.
  • The 1988 closing credits' music, which is wistful and emotional enough to make a lot of kids tear up.
  • The 2017 comic revival reveals exactly why the Blockheads act the way they do: they're an oppressed minority based on the shape of their heads. Yeesh, no wonder they're always in a bad mood. Worse yet is that we learn this through Blockhead G's inner monologue.
  • Gumby silently crying as he reads the story of the "Outcast Marbles" in one of the original 1956 episodes.
