Tear Jerker: Roger Ebert
  • This cartoon says it all.
  • Shortly after Gene Siskel's funeral, Roger appeared on Larry King to talk about Gene and the aftermath of his passing. The death clearly is still weighing heavily on Roger, as his voice struggles to maintain composure. It looks like he'll be ready to cry at any moment.
  • His final blog entry, A Leave of Presence, posted the day before his death, stating that he wasn't going away and was still going to do his job to the very end, yet the prose read as if he knew his time was up (The opening words? "Thank you.").
"So on this day of reflection I say again, thank you for going on this journey with me. I'll see you at the movies.
  • His review of To The Wonder, which was the last movie he reviewed. The review is poignant, and especially sad because you read it and realize he's gone forever now.
